The Doobie Brothers reached a major turning point in 1975 with the addition of Michael McDonald. This soundboard album will immerse you in the live performance of this turning point. This work was recorded at the Memphis concert on October 8, 1975. It is a stereo soundboard recording of that performance. McDonald joined the band as a replacement for Tom Johnston, who collapsed during a US tour. The 1975 US tour, therefore, is divided into pre- and post-McDonald periods, with a slight difference in time, completely changing its meaning. Let's begin by taking a bird's-eye view of the band's activities at the time and exploring the position of this album.・January 16th - February 7th: Europe (14 shows) ・March 4th - April 8th: North America #1a (6 shows) (featuring Michael McDonald) ・April 14th - 24th: North America #2b (10 shows) ("STAMPEDE" released April 25th) ・April 25th - May 29th: North America #2c (20 shows) ・June 29th: Appearance at Day on the Green ・August 18th - November 1st: North America #2 (51 shows) ←★Click here★ This is THE DOOBIE BROTHERS in 1975. "STAMPEDE" was completed in the fall of 1974, and they began their US tour before the album was released. However, after six shows, Tom dropped out due to a stomach ulcer. So, with McDonald joining them, they successfully completed "North America #1." This Memphis performance was the 30th concert of the tour's restart edition, "North America #2," which took place after a break. This show was broadcast on WBCN's popular program "King Biscuit Flower Hour," and is a staple among classics that has produced numerous previously released groups. This work is also a classic soundboard, but it is the highest quality CD version recently released from the best master. In fact, the sound is completely official. Speaking of "King Biscuit Flower Hour," it is a famous program where various bands have made their excavated sound sources official. There is not a single gap in the recording or mix, so it is naturally completely official. The quality depicted is the generous performance of the "STAMPEDE" number... not. Let's take a look at some surprising set details: Toulouse Street (2 songs), Jesus Is Just Alright, Rockin' Down The Highway; Captain and Me (4 songs), South City Midnight Lady, Long Train Runnin', China Grove, Without You; and Doobie Heaven (3 songs), Road Angel, Eyes Of Silver, and Black Water. There are no "STAMPEDE" tracks. This is a condensed version of the previous three albums. As you can see from the schedule above, this was about five and a half months after the album's release, and they'd performed around 60 shows with McDonald, so a lack of rehearsal wasn't the cause. It's likely edited to fit the approximately 50-minute broadcast timeframe, but even so, the hit single "Take Me in Your Arms (Rock Me a Little While)" isn't even included... It's a truly puzzling selection. Regardless, this is surely a disc that lets you experience the live performance, fresh off McDonald, in fully official quality. This is a turning point in the band's life, where they unexpectedly discovered a new world and were fired up by its possibilities. This stereo soundboard recording of the "October 8, 1975 Memphis performance" is a masterpiece, recently released on CD from the best masters of the classic FM broadcast of the famous "King Biscuit Flower Hour." Enjoy the stage performance shortly after Michael McDonald joined the band with this fully official quality recording.
