The best early professional shots are here. This work is a studio live from "February 16, 1979" when they appeared on the famous German program "ROCKPALAST". This day was the sixth performance of "COMMUNIQUE TOUR 1979". However, at that time "COMMUNIQUE" had not yet been released. Although the recording was completed in 1978 the previous year, it was actually released in June, four months later. And the biggest highlight of this work is its quality. As a program that continued to record countless rock bands / musicians along with BBC and BEAT CLUB, the camera work that brings out the charm of the band is exquisite. Moreover, this work uses the best master ever, there is no distortion, noise, or deterioration, and it is extremely vivid up to the edge of the song title telop that makes you feel the era. Of course, the sound board has no complaints about the sound, and it is a completely official-class image. The live projected with that visual beauty is a wonderful thing that can be said to be "the essence of the original DIRE STRAITS". After all, the rhythm guitar is David Knopfler, and the original four perform seven of the nine songs on their debut album and six of the nine songs on "COMMUNIQUE". The show also includes "Eastbound Train" and "What's The Matter, Baby?", which were the B-sides of their debut singles. Of course, since it's a live show at a TV station studio, the atmosphere of the audience, who are not just fans, sitting and staring is quite different from a so-called concert. However, rather than being consumed by such an atmosphere, the passion to let the audience hear the new songs of "COMMUNIQUE", which have been waiting for release for months even though they have been completed, is explosive. And above all, the sight of Mark and David Knopfler brothers standing side by side strumming a Stratocaster can be fully enjoyed for 1 hour and 25 minutes with a perfect pro shot... This is the value of this work. After such a studio live, another bonus recording of the contemporary TV program "FERIENROCK" was also included. This is a 36-minute documentary program, but you can watch precious performance scenes along with interviews and narration by the young Knopfler brothers. Of course, there are plenty of off-scenes and studio scenes (during the production of "COMMUNIQUE"?) that are typical of a documentary, and the figure of DIRE STRAITS behind the great albums and great performances is vividly projected. A perfectly beautiful studio live and a documentary that is suffocating with the smell of the era. Both are masterpieces that capture the atmosphere of the site where the original DIRE STRAITS breathed and created music with the best professional shots. A piece filled with the brilliance that only DIRE STRAITS of this era can emit. Live at WDR Studio L, Cologne, Germany 16th February 1979 PRO-SHOT 1. Down To The Waterline 2. Six Blade Knife 3.
