This is a rare recording from the sessions for Derek & the Dominos' follow-up to their classic album "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs." Despite being in the process of recording, a conflict between Clapton and drummer Jim Gordon led to the band's disintegration and the album was shelved. Recorded at London's Olympic Sound Studios in April and May 1971, the tracks featured on this disc are all instrumental, often referred to as "basic tracks" without even a guide vocal. Later versions with vocal overdubs were included on tracks 3, 6, 7, and 8 of Clapton's 1988 4-CD anthology box set, "Crossroads." However, the master recordings for this disc are an authentic, leaked source, having been transferred to the UK-based veteran Taper on CDR from a Polygram staff member in the UK. Therefore, tracks 5 and 6 are completely different takes from the official versions. Listening to all the tracks from this elusive second album, all instrumental, is sure to pique the hearts of enthusiasts. The bonus track included on the master disc is Tell the Truth Jam from the "Layla Sessions," the same take that first appeared on the official "History of Eric Clapton" album. The sound quality is exceptionally clear and trouble-free, as expected of a leaked first-generation release. Between tracks, brief conversations and voices between Clapton and what appears to be an engineer can be heard, something you won't hear on the official version. Clapton's intense playing during his time with the Dominos is even more poignant because it's an instrumental recording. These recordings, which he worked hard to record in an attempt to surpass "Layla" but never saw the light of day, also offer a glimpse into Clapton's unfortunate past. Here are nine pieces that complete the puzzle of a period in Clapton's career. Unreleased Master STEREO SBD(from Original Masters) (37:46) 1. Instrumental 1 (aka Sick At Heart) 2.
