The 1969 TV appearance "BEAT CLUB" is known as a classic video that captures how Clapton joined Delaney & Bonnie and started in earnest. The program was recorded at Radio Bremen Studio on November 26th, and their performance scene was aired at the end of the 49th broadcast program of BEAT CLUB on the 29th. One song from that broadcast, "Poor Elijah / Tribute to Johnson", was included in the official software in the 1980s, and many enthusiasts were captivated by the sight of Clapton as a guitarist as a member of Delaney & Bonnie & Friends, and the appearance of the band formed with such a distinguished lineup. After that, only the audio of the other songs was excavated by CD items, so it was revealed that three songs were broadcast in total, but the video of the two songs other than "Poor Elijah" was not available for a while, and it was surprisingly recently that all the songs were available on video. Currently, the entire 49th broadcast is available on "BEAT CLUB VOL.2: 1968-1970", including these three songs, as well as Yes' "No Opportunity Necessary, No Experience Needed". However, recently, the official BEAT CLUB account on YouTube has been releasing video footage before it was edited for broadcast. The show is known for overlapping band logos and album covers during broadcasts, and this has escalated since the color broadcasts began in 1970. Deep Purple and Jeff Beck Group have already released footage before such effects were added, but it's surprising that videos before the effects were added were still available for black-and-white broadcasts before the switch to color recording. The Delaney & Bonnie footage was released this year, so there are probably many fans who don't even know it exists. Therefore, you can see the three songs in their unedited state, but for the two songs "Poor Elijah" and "Where There's a Will, There's a Way", the video starts from a scene that can only be seen before the performance begins, from the slate that comes out of the cue. Therefore, the opening band logo is not displayed in "Poor Elijah", which has been familiar for a long time. In addition, Delaney's count-up is clearly captured as he starts playing "Where There's ~". As you can see from these scenes, the footage of Delaney and his friends was not actually filmed in front of the audience, but was recorded as a "special treatment". In the actual broadcast, the announcer's comments with the audience between songs, and applause when the performance begins, are all "fake" (laughs). And as for "Comin' Home", which started immediately after "Where There's ~", it was played behind the ending credits in the actual broadcast and faded out in less than a minute, but here it is a complete performance! This alone will be a shocking discovery for enthusiasts around the world. However, after Clapton's guitar solo ended, a deep echo suddenly appeared, which is clearly a mistake on the part of the broadcasting station, so it is possible that only the beginning of the performance was broadcast due to this. However, this is only a minor problem, and "Comin' Home", which has only been seen for a third of the performance until now, is complete, and even more so, it can be seen without the ending credits. Although only three songs are recorded in this way, the image quality is already at a press level and the extremely valuable footage is sure to be a shocking item for all Clapton enthusiasts.
