This history video is originally a TV program broadcast on the British BBC on July 8, 1995, but this work is based on the digital master when it was rebroadcast on March 7, 2010. In addition to a number of valuable footage unique to the BBC, even core PURPLE enthusiasts will be drawn in by the editing, which interweaves interviews with the members with skillful visual effects. The work starts from the ROUNDABOUT era in 1968, which was the beginning of the band's formation. The impression is that it is basically a review of what is known in conventional band history, such as the origin of the band's name, but from the mouths of people involved such as Jon Lord, Ian Paice, and even Nick Simper (!) The reminiscences told are very persuasive. In addition, in the second season of PURPLE, there are not only interviews with Ian Gillan and Roger Glover, but also Nick Simper, who was fired, Sheila Carter of EPISODE SIX, who was pulled out of the group, It is noteworthy that it also includes testimony from Mick Underwood (although it is monochrome and short, the performance scene of EPISODE SIX that appears here is very interesting). There are many videos that fans are familiar with, such as the performance with the orchestra immediately after the start of the second period and "Rock Palast," but if you look back on them as a series of historical events, you will enjoy them with a fresh feeling. In the following scenes from the third to fourth periods, David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes appear! They, John, and Pace will talk about the state of the PURPLE live immediately after the new members joined, Richie's departure after "STORMBRINGER", Tommy Bolin, etc. An official history piece was recently announced for the fourth season of PURPLE, so it will be interesting to combine this work with that one. In the "PURPLE blank period" from '76 to '84, in addition to Roger's reminiscences of the RAINBOW era, Cozy Powell also appears and talks about those days. Don't miss John and Pace mentioning the WHITESNAKE era from PAICE, ASHTON & LORD (not only Coverdale, but Bernie Marsden, who co-starred with both, also appears). On the other hand, Gillan follows not only the GILLAN era but also BLACK SABBATH. The inside story of "BORN AGAIN" and the '83 tour told by Tony Iommi and Gillan is a must-see for SABBATH fans! In the second half of the video, the story progresses from PURPLE's reunion in 1984 to Gillan's departure and rejoining, WHITESNAKE's breakout in the United States, and Richie's departure from PURPLE in 1993. Since the video was produced in 1995, the content ends with Steve Morse joining in 1994. At the end, the people who were interviewed reappear one after another. Just looking at this scene alone, I am once again amazed at the depth of the history of DEEP PURPLE and its family, which involves many people. Unfortunately, there are no Japanese subtitles because the masters imported from overseas are used directly, but in addition to the familiar words that pop out at important points, the content is very good even with the photos, subtitles, and live footage that appear on the screen. You can get a good overview of it. Naturally, there are limits within the limited time frame of 50 minutes, but the history of the band, which can be looked back on with a number of valuable takes and materials, is plenty worth seeing. This work was released as a gift title, and is a must-see and must-have for everyone from beginners to enthusiasts! Comes with original menu. Band history video made and broadcast by BBC in 1995.
