In the 48-year history of DEEP PURPLE, the Joe Satriani era was special. The best live in Japan is here! Satriani DP was born due to the sudden withdrawal of Ritchie Blackmore just before the Japan performance. Despite not officially recording any studio or live albums, unlike the likes of Randy California, it has been called "an era" by various names such as "Mk 8", "Mk VI", "7.5th period", etc. This is the lineup that has been passed down to the present day. This work is a live album with the best sound that will represent the Satriani era. This is a good opportunity, so let's first take a look at the history of Satriani DP. ・November 17, 1993: Ritchie's final performance "Satriani Join" ・December 1-8, 1993: Japan tour (6 performances) ・June 3-July 6, 1994: European tour (25 performances) )《Satriani leaves》 ・November 23, 1994: First performance after joining Mose As mentioned above, Satriani DP's live performances totaled 31 performances in Japan and Europe. The Japan performance was indeed Satriani DP's first performance. This work is an audience album that includes the "December 3, 1993: Osaka Castle Hall" performance. At our store, we have introduced many records from 1993, so let's organize them here along with the dates. ・December 1, 1993: Nagoya Rainbow Hall ・December 3, 1993: Osaka Castle Hall → "BATTLE CASTLE", [this work] ・December 5, 1993: Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium → "THE BATTLE RAGES IN YOKOHAMA" ” ・December 6, 1993: Nippon Budokan → “THE TOKYO BATTLE” ・December 7, 1993: Nippon Budokan → “THE TOKYO BATTLE” “BATTLE RAGES AT BUDOKAN” ・December 8, 1993: Yoyogi Olympic Pool → “THE TOKYO BATTLE” and “BATTLE MACHINE”, we have delivered many famous recordings like this, but the quality of this work is outstanding among them. This is a direct CD version of the original master that appeared for the first time, and of course it is a separate recording from the previously released “BATTLE CASTLE”. The sound barrel and the word "just like a sound board" are as if they were made into a CD. The previously released "BATTLE CASTLE" had a wonderful sound, but even with that masterpiece, it cannot be compared... or should I say, the masterpiece "THE BATTLE RAGES IN YOKOHAMA" which was touted as "Satriani DP's best masterpiece" ” It even exceeds! You can immediately see the strong clarity from the opening SE, but the moment when the bass comes in in the “Highway Star” intro is when it becomes surprising. It's like a route with no sense of distance! Moreover, not only is it direct, but each note stands out and has a beautiful reverberation. Then, once again, vivid musical sounds with zero sense of distance begin to overlap...Every time each instrument appears, surprises pile up, saying, ``The organ is amazing!'' ``Even the guitar!'' Finally, Ian Gillan appears. !! I don't know how many times I've listened to this intro, but it seems like it was arranged to explain the clear sound of this work. Even after that, the iron-clad quality remained unwavering until the end. Although you can tell that it's an audience because there are real applause here and there, it's really a sound board...or should I say, it's a super beautiful sound like an official version. The Satriani DP drawn with that quality is also very, very vivid. From that time on, people said, “It was a shame that Richie wasn’t there, but it was great,” but it’s still amazing to my ears now, 23 years later. He will show off some advanced fast-playing phrases, but even more advanced than that is his sense of style. While firmly maintaining the image of the original song, it does not fall into the trap of copying, nor does it try to show off its skills. At the time, it was said to have a "sense of balance," but it's not just a matter of quantity. It's clear that they want to make the song exciting, and even the strange phrases are as accurate as if they were originally arranged. It also resonates with Jon Lord's organ and Ian Paice's drumming, and the call and response with Gillan is also decided. They don't kill each other, they don't match each other, and they compliment each other in a thrilling way. An ensemble that knows not only the songs but also the “life of DEEP PURPLE”. The sample of "high tech & DP" that may have been a hint for Steve Morse is beautifully completed. You can say that Satriani is a genius, but is this really their second performance together for the first time? Rather, it may be a masterpiece that miraculously combines the tension of the second performance and the passion of the members who want to prove that “we can do it without Richie!” Although it is a temporary lineup, Satriani DP is recognized as “an era” in history. Indeed, I have to admit that it is an amazing live performance so far. "Satriani's MADE IN JAPAN" records this historical evidence with the best sound ever. Although it is more technical than Ritchie and more colorful than Moes, it is the pinnacle record of the era that is not officially recorded. Please enjoy it to the fullest!
