DEEP PURPLE was released in 1969, on the eve of the "IN ROCK" revolution, when the Golden Five were all together. Introducing a color version of the representative professional shot from the dawn of time. This work includes two very famous videos: “August 22, 1969 “JAZZ BILZEN”” and “October 11 “ESSEN INTERNATIONAL POP & BLUES FESTIVAL”. This is a multi-camera professional shot taken when appearing at a European festival. At that time, they welcomed Ian Gillan and Roger Glover and produced "IN ROCK"... Before they produced "IN ROCK", they also tried the fusion of rock and classical with "CONCERTO FOR GROUP AND ORCHESTRA". First, let's look back at the progress and confirm the position of this work. [June 16th: Agreed to join Gillan and Glover] [July 4th: Evans and Simper fired] July 10th-20th: UK #1 (3 performances) August 20th: London performance August 22nd-24th: Europe #1 (3 performances) ←★First half of this work★ August 26th-September 7th: UK #2/Northern Europe (9 performances) September 12th-28th: UK #3 (7 performances) ← *“CONCERTO FOR GROUP AND ORCHESTRA” October 4th-14th: Europe #2 (6 performances) ←★Second half of this work★《“IN ROCK” production starts on October 14th》・October 22nd - December 28th: UK #4 (36 performances) *Note: Media appearances such as TV and radio are omitted. This is the schedule from the birth of Phase II until the end of 1969. Rod Evans and Nick Simper's final performance was on the 4th of July, and about a week later they were on stage with Ian Gillan and Roger Glover. After that, they performed a few performances in England to get used to it, and then expanded overseas. “JAZZ BILZEN” in the first half of this work is the first day of continental Europe. The other “ESSEN INTERNATIONAL POP & BLUES FESTIVAL” was “Europe #2” after “CONCERTO FOR GROUP AND ORCHESTRA” and was the stage 3 days before entering the studio to produce “IN ROCK”. These two performances are also famous for their multi-camera professional shots, and have been prized as the earliest footage of DEEP PURPLE II. This work is also a classic professional shot, but it is very different from the previous ones. This is the first color version ever! However, color film was not newly discovered. This work is an artificially colored version created by an AI program that has recently become a hot topic. Underground sound sources/videos make it easy to feel the advancement of technology vividly, but it has finally become possible for individuals to turn monochrome images into color. The quality that's attracting attention is...it's surprisingly natural. "Natural" here does not mean realistically reproducing the colors of the scene. Rather, it feels like a sepia version of a monochrome image. However, the texture is not artificial. In the case of traditional manual coloring, the intention was often unclear and the result looked like a coloring book. but. This work is automatic due to the program, so there is no intention, and the mood of the scene, which would have been illuminated by colorful lights, feels natural. Best of all, the sepia feel perfectly fits the vintage content. Of course, it's much more impressive. In monochrome, the background and character felt integrated, but in this work, the texture of the skin and hair is more vivid and stands out from the inorganic texture of the instruments and walls. As you know, the main songs are instrumental songs such as "Wring That Neck" and "Mandrake Root", so Ian Gillan's singing is just a joke, but Jon Lord's fingertips are sore even with bandages, and Ritchie Blackmore's Gibson. With his ES-335 and Stratocaster roaring furiously, Ian Paice bangs away with such force that he looks like he's about to break out in sweat... The sensuousness of his body synchronizes with his fierce improvisation, creating an even more dynamic feeling. Advances in technology have opened up new possibilities for underground recording, such as improving the sound quality of audience recordings, digital mastering, and multi-camera editing. Another emotion that I had never experienced before was born. A new masterpiece that literally imbues a classic monochrome video with a natural and beautiful "sex appeal." “Jazz Bilzen”, Begijnhof, Bilzen, Belgium 22nd August 1969 “Essen International Pop & Blues Festival”, Grugahalle, Essen, West Germany 11th October 1969 (42:09) Jazz Bilzen Begijnhof, Bilzen, Belgium 22nd August 1969 Recorded by Belgium TV "Tienerklanken".
