The highly conceptual and excellent sound quality of DEEP PURPLE's 1993 German tour has been very well received, and the 6-disc set that can be considered the final edition of the "BATTLE OVER GERMANY" series has finally been released! As in the past, the concept of packing an entire tour of one region has been firmly inherited, and from the four Nordic tour performances held after Ritchie Blackmore's departure was decided, three performances, excluding the Stockholm, Sweden performance on November 13th, which was officially released for collectors, are recorded directly from excellent audience recording masters, all of which are first appearances. Although the taper is different for each performance, all of them are recorded with excellent sound quality that is comparable to each sound source of the German tour, and we declare that this work is a must-listen must-have item for those who have listened to the four works of the "BATTLE OVER GERMANY" series so far, as well as for fans who are not! Disc 1 and Disc 2 contain a 104-minute show in Copenhagen, Denmark on November 12th. In the past, the encore performances of this day, "Speed King" and "Smoke On The Water", were included as bonus tracks on "IN YOUR TROUSERS" before the official release, but this is the first full-length version to appear on a collector's sound source, making it a valuable and memorable one. Although the recording feels a little distant from the stage, on the contrary, the sound image gives a wide sense of realism that this is a live performance at a large venue. In addition, the high tones are very crisp and the sound conditions are very on, and the contours of the performance are clear, so you can enjoy this big-scale live performance comfortably. Another feature is that Richie's guitar playing can be clearly heard, and you can clearly enjoy the free play unique to this period, such as the riff of "Long Live Rock'N'Roll" roughly inserted in the middle of "Black Night". Other highlights include the tense "A Twist In The Tale" and "Knocking At Your Backdoor," as well as the relaxed and friendly "Anyone's Daughter." These performances suggest that the band was already freed from fruitless conflict and was in a calm mental state where they could demonstrate their true abilities. Richie's guitar is featured heavily in the medleys of "Space Truckin'," "Woman From Tokyo," and "Paint It Black," which are the highlights of the live performance, and are a major listening point on this album. "Paint It Black," which compactly incorporates the jam session part of "Mandrake Root," features John's keyboard and Pace's drums, each of which is very thrilling, and it is a shame that such arrangements cannot be heard in the current PURPLE. The encore is two songs, "Speed King" and "Smoke On The Water." Gillan was in good condition that day and performed a very enthusiastic singing, but Richie's guitar was recorded on a large scale, and the way they competed with each other reminded me of the second period of the bygone '70s. This show is a must-see sound source for guitar freaks who want to enjoy Richie's play. Next up is Disc 3 and Disc 4, a performance in Oslo, Norway, held on November 15th. There were several titles for this performance in the past, such as "RITCHIE LAST GIG", but this work uses a sound source from a higher master that is easier to listen to, which clears out those already sound sources. The take you can hear here is a clear sound image that has been peeled off one or two veils compared to the previous releases, and the performance is reproduced with a more realistic outline than ever before, and the band's play is a dynamic sound with a powerful bass, and you can clearly enjoy Roger's bass line. This show was especially full of Richie's guitar, with a sharp solo on "Highway Star" and a series of satisfying plays on "Perfect Strangers". After "Perfect Strangers", there was a jam part featuring "Hall Of A Mountain King", and Richie's thrilling play from here to "Difficult To Cure" is a wonderful foretaste of RITCHIE BLACKMORE'S RAINBOW, which will be realized two years later. The new songs "Anya" and "The Battle Rages On" are played with great enthusiasm by not only Richie but also the whole band, and Gillan's singing is not bad at all. In the encore "Hush", it is interesting to see how the song gradually gets more exciting from Richie's lyrical play at the beginning, and in the middle of the following "Speed King", the band plays a stable interplay with perfect harmony. This day is also known for the last guitar crash in DEEP PURPLE on "Smoke On The Water". The guitar crash pattern that suddenly starts about 4 minutes into the final song was difficult to grasp with conventional sound sources, but here, the surging bass and the unique atmosphere of the audience give it a sense of realism. The guitar noise that resonates until the very end is so spectacular that Gillan smiles bitterly, and this is a famous scene that you cannot miss. The last day, November 17th, was Richie's last day at DEEP PURPLE, and several sound sources have appeared so far. Among them, the AUD sound source "FINISH IN FINLAND" is famous as a classic, but the sound here is a bit muffled and unbalanced, and the SBD sound source "RITCHIE'S LAST" (Darker Than Blue) is a wonderful content, but it was only recorded as an encore, so it was a historic show, but the sound source was not blessed with good sound sources. The take recorded in this work is based on the highest level of first appearance material as an AUD recording of the same period in terms of clarity, performance prospects and clear contours, as well as part separation, and the sound with outstanding realism without audience noise will make the listener feel like they are in the audience of the historic moment of "Richie's last day" from the opening "Highway Star" to the show end. That's why it's unfortunate that there is a tape change-like cut at the end of "Knocking At Your Backdoor", but the highest level of recording quality that blows away all the dissatisfaction so far is guaranteed to surprise everyone who listens! Even when listening to each song, there is a special feeling in each number, such as the power of "Talk About Love", which was the last performance as DEEP PURPLE, and the energetic play of "Difficult To Cure". John's keyboard solo and "Anyone's Daughter" are not exaggerated but really clear like a line sound source, and you can enjoy the realism of the level and scale of the audience's applause that is pouring down. The contrast between stillness and motion from "Child In Time" to "Anya" is artistic, and the development of the musical tones woven delicately and dynamically by Richie and John is so moving that it is moving. The climax part from "Lazy" which includes a drum solo to "Paint It Black" is cut out in such great condition and with such great force that you forget that this is an AUD sound source in some places. The encore "Smoke On The Water" is a perfect expression that a thousand emotions well up in your heart, and at the moment of the coda, each member must have had something in mind. Gillan's words of thanks to the audience are also longer this time, and his voice sounds somewhat lonely. The end of the seventh period of DEEP PURPLE has been talked about in a bad image, but when you see the superb performances of the three performances depicted in this work, such a perception will surely be overturned. If you've been listening to the "BATTLE OVER GERMANY" series, you'll know that the Birmingham performance, which was officially released, was an extraordinary live performance. Ritchie Blackmore's last brilliant performance with DEEP PURPLE was the best thing to end the golden age lineup! Please enjoy the three days of DEEP PURPLE's historic Nordic tour on this voluminous 6-disc set! The '93 tour chronicle, which will be talked about for years to come, is now here and now!
