The third DEEP PURPLE has welcomed new talent and become more mellow. This precious long live album is now available on 2 CDs. This work contains the "May 15, 1974 Manchester performance". It is a concert just one week before the official masterpiece "LIVE IN LONDON", and it is a precious special audience recording. It has been a while since the press title of "BURN TOUR" was released, so let's first check the position of the show from the overall tour picture. [1973] December 9-17: Europe #1 (5 performances) [1974] January 20-26: Europe #2 (5 performances) {February 15th "BURN" released} March 3-April 9: North America #1 (28 performances) April 18-June 27: UK (25 performances) ←★Here★ August 24-30: North America #2 (4 performances) September 18-28: Europe #3 (9 performances) {November "STORMBRINGER" released} This is the journey from the third period of DEEP PURPLE's stage debut to "Storm Messenger". The Manchester performance of this work was the 15th concert of the only home country tour. This work, which records such a show, is a truly magnificent vintage audience. In fact, there has been a sound record of this show for a long time, and it has been known as a famous recording representing this period. Although the recording itself is the same, this work is a newly excavated master with a different route from the previous one. The best thing about it is the clarity. In the first place, it was not the type that could be mistaken for a sound board, but the air was transparent, and each instrument was clear without becoming a dango. The heat that is intensely released in "Burn" and the temperature of the site that is slowly brewed in "Mistreated" are vividly felt. It is a real audience as if the hole in the wall of the venue is directly connected to the speaker beyond time and space. The taste of such a recording was felt even in the previous release, but the master of this work is young, so Gene is even more vivid and the sound is natural. In fact, the high tones of the previous release were distorted, perhaps due to master deterioration or equalization, and the metal system that pierces the ears was particularly harsh. In contrast, this work is clear and natural. You can enjoy the sound of the site itself even more. The natural sound depicts a wonderful show that can be called "full-scale LIVE IN LONDON". The masterpiece "LIVE IN LONDON" contains the Kilburn performance on "May 22", which is only one week different from this work. That's why the band's condition and the tension of the performance are very similar. However, even though the performance is similar, the length is completely different. It is an exceptionally long recording that includes not only "Space Truckin'", but also the encore "Going Down" and "Highway Star". In fact, the performance of "Highway Star" breaks in about two and a half minutes, and this work ends. I don't know if it ended as it was, or if it was replayed in full in a reprise, but still, this work is the very early "Going Down" and "Highway Star" in the third period. You can enjoy the fresh yet ambitious encore. The early days of the third period of DEEP PURPLE, when Ritchie Blackmore was also devoting all his passion while welcoming two new members. This is a rare live album that allows you to enjoy the wonderful performance on a full scale. A masterpiece recording that has been updated to the highest peak with a new master.
