The biggest legend of DEEP PURPLE in the 70s, "California Jam on April 6, 1974". The highest quality video version is now available. "Cali Jam Purple" video has long been known as the foundation of rock and is a textbook that everyone has been through. The best version is not the current official Blu-Ray... The true identity of this work is the out-of-print DVD of the VAP version released in 2000. Why is the early DVD from more than 20 years ago the best? To explain this, let's organize the official releases. ・I: 1981 (first VHS/Beta/LD) ・R: 1990 (VHS/LD reissue) ・H: 2000 (first DVD) ←★This★ ・N: 2005 (Extended DVD) ・H: 2016 (New BD/DVD)... and so on. The release years vary slightly depending on the media and country, but it has been reprinted roughly at five times. Of these, "I, Ro, Ha" are basically the same (although there are subtitles and slight differences in image quality), and were produced from the master held by the BBC in the UK. This is the one without "Lay Down, Stay Down". This changed dramatically from "Ni" in 2005. The master was based on the "In Concert" broadcast version of the US ABC, not the UK BBC, and was significantly expanded with airport arrival scenes, "Lay Down, Stay Down", and two different angles. Many people were delighted with this achievement. However, this "US ABC version" did not match the UK BBC version in terms of image quality (some cuts were replaced). Then, 10 years later, "Ho" was digitally remastered and upgraded with further new materials. The media was also BD, and this time it was supposed to be the definitive version... But there was another problem. Both the "US ABC version" angle and the "UK BBC version" angle were strangely processed in image quality and looked unnatural. Perhaps this was a compromise to match the two. As a result, the clarity of the BBC master was lost, and the ABC master also had a blurred graininess. It was a finish that seemed to kill two rabbits and miss both. The premise was long, but based on this background, the conclusion of the enthusiast who examined "Which is the best image quality?" was "Ha". It is the first DVD version "VPBR-11035" released only in Japan. In fact, its image beauty is the highest peak. As mentioned above, it is more beautiful than "Ni-Ho", but compared to the earlier "I-Ro", the pixels feel finer and the stability is also excellent. This is a complete guess, but I think that when it was made into a DVD, the Japanese side re-created it from the original BBC master (the subtitles are also different from the VHS/LD version). Even though "Ni-Ho" lacked the finishing touch, it is surprising that such a wonderful DVD was released only in Japan... In terms of quantity, "Ni-Ho" is a complete victory, with "Lay Down, Stay Down" also in the picture. This work is not even close. However, in terms of "beauty," VPBR-11035 is still the best. This is a meticulous reproduction of the visual beauty of such an out-of-print DVD. The highest quality version of the legendary footage has been released. This is the BBC master version, which was released on DVD only in Japan in 2000, and while it does not include "Lay Down, Stay Down," the image quality is far more beautiful than the current ABC masters on BD/DVD.
