Following the dissolution of the New York Dolls, David Johansen embarked on a solo career. This radio broadcast features a high-quality stereo soundboard recording of a 1979 live performance in Chicago! After Johnny & Jerry left the New York Dolls, he added new members, including Sylvain Sylvain, but the band disbanded in 1977. Johansen released his first solo album with fellow member Sylvain in 1978, and the following year, he released his second album, "In Style," with legendary guitarist Mick Ronson as producer. This recording captures the live performance held at the Granada Seattle, a 3,400-seat theater in Chicago, Illinois, on September 16, 1979, the same day as the release of his second album, in high-quality stereo soundboard recording! Digitally transferred directly from the WXRT-FM broadcast reel master, the recording offers superb sound quality with impeccable clarity, mix, and balance, worthy of a proper live album release! In addition, the pitch of the sound source circulating online was significantly out of sync, but of course this work has been carefully corrected. The setlist featured numbers from his solo debut album, such as "Funky But Chic" and "Cool Metro," which were also played at later Dolls concerts, as well as four songs from his then-new album, "IN STYLE."
