Bowie's album "Let's Dance" left many old Bowie fans confused by its musicality. Of course, I knew that Bowie had changed himself to suit the times, but he always changed with an eye on the future. However, "Let's Dance" was clearly music that was in tune with the times, riding on the disco boom. Ironically, this album was a huge sales success, and it pushed Bowie to the majors. It seemed to old fans that he had sold his soul to the devil to gain popularity. Although "Let's Dance" is not well-received by old fans, what shows Bowie's insight is that he chose Stevie Ray Vaughan, who was still unknown at the time, for the recording. The first time Bowie saw Stevie perform was at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1982. Bowie liked his performance and asked him to participate in his next album. The idea of using a blues guitarist to create an album with danceable tunes is interesting. I think that this is what made Let's Dance a new Bowie album, not just a bid to please the times, and maintained the line that it deserves. Following the worldwide success of Let's Dance, Bowie went on tour for the first time in four years in 1983. Unfortunately, Stevie did not participate in the tour, but he still played with Bowie's touring band at the time of rehearsal. This album records the tour rehearsal held in Dallas on April 27, 1983, in preparation for the Serious Moonlight tour, with Stevie Ray Vaughan also participating. The first day of the tour was in Belgium on May 18, so it can be seen that this was a rehearsal with a nearly completed set just before the tour. Perhaps because he had already rehearsed many times and was well-trained, Bowie seemed very relaxed, and in "Station To Station," he suddenly started singing nonsensical lyrics, which made everyone laugh. Even though it's a rehearsal, it's more like a dress rehearsal, and it's also characterized by being recorded almost exactly as it was on one stage. This work completely records the tour rehearsal in Dallas on April 27, 1983, in which Stevie Ray Vaughan participated, on a high-quality soundboard. Unlike the main tour, Stevie Ray Vaughan is participating as he was on the recording, and Ray Vaughan also plays the so-called Bowie classics. LOS COLINAS SOUNDSTAGE, DALLAS TEXAS U.S.A.
