"TOKYO 1978" has been revived with quality that updates the world's best. The performance depicted with that quality is packed with not only Bowie from 38 years ago, but also the atmosphere of the era that surrounded him at the time. Therefore, we present to you a TV interview video that similarly captures the atmosphere of that time. This work includes a corner of the commercial broadcast program “Star Thousand and One Nights.” You can still see Bowie being interviewed in a hotel room by a famous host. In addition to the youthful Bowie, everything from the program direction to the host's hairstyle is full of the scent of the late 70's. At the beginning, a live video of them singing "Blackout" is played, and the reddish-brown video has a handwritten subtitle of "(singing) David Bowie" on it, and towards the end of the program there is even a breaking news report, making it a video that explodes with the times. Meanwhile, the biggest highlight is Bowie, who answers interviews with no make-up and a calm voice. Even while smoking a cigarette, it is impressive to see how sincerely he responds to his attitude toward performance, Japanese culture, and his own artistic views. For example, ``When I was studying theater, I was influenced by Kabuki and Noh.'' ``The character Ziggy is a combination of Japanese theater and American science fiction.'' ``I never call myself an artist.'' So I think it's very important to be greedy about any kind of art.'' etc. Coupled with his serious expression, his true face is completely different from that on stage, and the heart that is wrapped up in his lyrics and costumes is depicted. And the interaction with the host, who is in complete contrast to Bowie, is also interesting. It's typical of Japanese TV to have a host who just lets things slide without delving into his deep worldview, changing topics one after another: movies, milk (!?), his son... Normally, I would be disappointed if I sincerely expressed my feelings toward art and the response was, "By the way, we drink juice, but he drinks milk. Is it for health reasons?", but Bowie completely ignored that kind of attitude. "Japanese milk has an unusual and interesting taste," he replied with a smile, without showing any signs of concern. It is a video that shows his star quality and personality, even in the fact that he doesn't care about such erratic exchanges. Although it is a short video of only 11 minutes, there are serious expressions and mischievous smiles that are different from the stage where they sing with passion. That is the true face of “Bowie in 1978,” and he speaks his heart to the fans on the other side of the camera rather than the host. Bowie responds, ``If you want to live in Japan, south is better than Tokyo.'' Since we have "TOKYO 1978" where you can see him on stage at the highest level in history, we would like you to meet him offstage as well. With that feeling in mind, I present you this private piece.
