Last year, a session tape of "Rock 'n' Roll With Me" from David Bowie's album "DIAMOND DOGS" was auctioned. It was sold for 280,000 yen (surprisingly cheap!), but last month, a person who seems to have won the bid released a 20-minute clip of the tape on YouTube. However, like the Rolling Stones' RS69TRAX, the person who uploaded it deleted it within 24 hours, and it quickly became unavailable. However, there was a maniac who captured the tape during the short period of availability, and the valuable audio source is now available on only a few sites. The audio source you hear here is thought to have been released by the owner as it is, and although it is via YouTube, it is stereo and has excellent sound quality. Despite its 20-minute recording time, it is the latest valuable audio source that is amazed the world. What's great about it is that, unlike the Sigma reel, which was also auctioned but not sold, and only a small excerpt is still heard, you can get a glimpse of the entire session. In addition to Bowie, the session was performed by regular Mike Garson on piano, and drummer Tony Newman and bassist Herbie Flowers, who had been with Bowie from the "DIAMOND DOGS" sessions to the first Seoul tour, served as the rhythm section. It is clear that this is still in the early stages of the session, and the rough and loose atmosphere, which is different from the album version, is fresh. Of course, Bowie is singing as a "temporary song", but even his relaxed singing is quite attractive. At the beginning of the session, Bowie was singing while hitting the tambourine, but he soon abandoned it in order to sing more. However, the tambourine was always ringing in the album version, so he probably wanted to incorporate it. The relaxed atmosphere of the first half of the session is also fun to listen to, and Bowie can be seen laughing at various points. Above all, the stereo and excellent sound quality make it possible to hear Bowie's breathing, making it a masterpiece. This is something that can only be said to be a session tape. He gives instructions to each musician as he takes the songs, but the atmosphere is relaxed. It is also true that this is a valuable recording that captures Bowie, who was good at wearing a "mask" as an artist, revealing his true self in the studio. This is the first studio session recording that surprised enthusiasts around the world, but quickly disappeared from the Internet. Although it is a short recording time of 20 minutes, it is full of things to listen to. And yet the sound quality is the best, and it is a great excavation that even feels like a Bowie version of "ULTRA RARE TRAX". It also has great historical value as the first session recording excavated from the album "DIAMOND DOGS".
