The latest work in the Taper "Two Of Us" series, which has been releasing the best audience recordings of various artists in the United States from the early 1980s since last year, is David Bowie's 1983 Serious Moonlight Tour. to the final day of the Philadelphia Spectrum. As you may remember if you are a fanatic, “Two Of Us” has continued to release continuous performances at Spectrum in 1983 and has received favorable reviews with the release of PHILADELPHIA 3RD NIGHT. The Serious Moonlight Tour, where Bowie reached the pinnacle as an Eighties pop star, had a fairly hard schedule, and performances were held for four consecutive nights at the Philadelphia Spectrum. The last release “PHILADELPHIA 3RD NIGHT” was an excellent audience recording that had the appeal of a close balance of Bowie’s voice, but this time it is a superb recording that makes you feel a different charm of being clear and conveying the power of the entire band. Immediately after the live start, the sound image was unstable, probably because the taper position was not settled, but from "Fashion" onwards, it suddenly stabilized (in fact, it was more stable than the previous day), and the power of the performance was amazing. Speaking of continuous performances in Philadelphia, there is a series of performances at the Tower Theater in 1974, which was the stage of the official "DAVID LIVE" (technically speaking, it is not Philadelphia, but Upper Darby in Pennsylvania) ), but as you can see, Philadelphia was the place where Bowie's popularity exploded early in America. However, in 1976 and 1978, the Spectrum only held two days of performances each. Therefore, this time, it was said that it was a big service and was held for four consecutive nights. What is most surprising is that Bowie is in such great shape that it is hard to believe that this is the last day of four consecutive nights. The Serious Moonlight Tour itself felt like it had reached the next level since the American tour in July, and this day is also typical of that. The band gave us a solid performance centered on Earl Slick's guitar, and the power of the performance was recorded in a realistic manner, so the lead guitar played by him was very powerful. Bowie's tireless enthusiastic singing supported by such a reliable backing band is suitable for the finale of four consecutive nights in Philadelphia. “Two Of Us” recorded a stage that can’t be called a masterpiece with splendid sound quality, natural and warm, and a rich sense of presence. The only regret is that, unlike the previous day, there were slight cuts in the performances of "Fame" and the finale "Modern Love" (the latter apparently due to a dead battery). However, when releasing it, this is a really beautiful patch of another sound source from the same day. Although it is undeniable that the sound quality changes due to the difference in the sound source, both are smooth and the rhythm is not interrupted and is a wonderful editing that allows you to listen with peace of mind.
