After the successful completion of the Serious Moonlight Tour in 1983, Bowie again produced an album in the same vein. Just as Low, Heroes, and Roger are called a trilogy, Let's Dance and Tonight are sister albums. The album "Tonight," released in 1984, is undoubtedly an extension of Let's Dance musically, but it is full of Bowie-like originality, making it a modest yet tasteful work. In particular, the way he destroys the Beach Boys' cover "God Only Knows" is magnificent. Also, "Loving the Alien," which opens the album, has a refined beauty of melody, a singing voice that makes heavy use of falsetto, and a level of perfection that could be called Bowie's best work in the 1980s. Although the album was a hit in the wake of the previous work, no tour was held for this album. In the 1980s, Bowie began to focus on movies. The first one was "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence," directed by Nagisa Oshima in 1983. Another important movie appearance by Bowie was "Labyrinth". Bowie played the role of the demon king Jareth, which suited him well. He also cooperated in the animation "When the Wind Blows", and it was a time when he contributed greatly to video works in parallel with music. In 1987, Bowie released a new album for the first time in three years. That was "Never Let Me Down". The jacket was colorful, which was a complete change from the previous two albums, and the songs were bright in tone. Just as "Let's Dance" was recorded with a major feature on Stevie Ray Vaughan, "Never Let Me Down" was produced with the full participation of Peter Frampton as a guitarist. After the mid-80s when he was focusing on movies, Bowie decided to go on tour again with this album. And Peter Frampton, who participated in the album recording, will accompany him on the tour. The tour title was named "Glass Spider Tour". This work is a complete recording of the rehearsal that took place prior to the Glass Spider Tour on a soundboard. The Glass Spider Tour officially began on May 29, 1987 in Rotterdam, but in fact, they performed live at small venues in Europe for about half a month in March of the same year as a promotion. The date of this work is unknown, but it is probably recorded during this period. From the theatrical performance of the opening to the final song "Modern Love," the performance is performed in the same configuration as the actual stage, so even though it is a rehearsal, it is a serious performance just like the real thing. The final rehearsal for the 1987 Glass Spider Tour is completely recorded on a soundboard. Although it is a rehearsal, it is a dress rehearsal that was performed in the same configuration as the actual performance from the opening performance to the ending.
