A CD+DVD special edition of rare recordings related to "Diamond Dogs" and valuable tour rehearsal footage capturing David Bowie's transitional period from 1974 to 1975 has arrived! The latest compilation "Halloween Jack Is a Real Cool Cat" is now available, capturing David Bowie's transitional period from 1973 when he sealed away Ziggy Stardust himself and went from Halloween Jack to Diamond Dogs, and then from his 1974 US tour to "Young Americans"! The CD includes rare recordings related to the album "Diamond Dogs", including valuable sessions and demos. From a promo-only sampler of highlight medleys of album tracks, to single versions and studio outtakes, the album includes rarities of note, such as the recording session of "Rock 'n' Roll With Me" that lasts more than 20 minutes and the session recording of Lulu, which also featured Mick Ronson. The DVD starts with the Halloween Jack Video Collection, a compilation of Diamond Dogs-related footage from the 1974 TV broadcast. In addition to two versions of the familiar "Rebel Rebel" with Halloween Jack wearing an eyepatch, it also includes rare footage of the Edison Awards press conference and "Knock on Wood" from Top of the Pops. In the second half of the DVD, rehearsal footage leaked by a related party just before the 1974 US tour appears for the first time in an original edit. This is a video of a tour rehearsal held in Port Chester, New York on June 8, 1974, which was the source of the original video footage, although only the audio had been distributed in the past. This is a rehearsal for the legendary "Diamond Dogs" tour, which had to be abandoned due to the large-scale stage set, stage equipment, and theatrical production including dancers, but unfortunately the video itself is dark from start to finish, and the entire stage is filmed from a distance as a record of the stage progress and production check, so although Bowie can be seen moving around and checking the progress from time to time, the video is fragmented and has been barely restored with still images. The performance is also not live, as it is played on a monitor from a pre-recorded rehearsal tape, but the sound source itself is clear and easy to listen to, unlike live recordings of this era, without cheers, and is recorded with the best sound quality currently available compared to past recordings. Tony Basil, who will continue to be in charge of choreography in later years, gives instructions and rehearses with Bowie in detail, making this a rare video that will be a valuable record of the rehearsals of the legendary tour.
