To commemorate the release of "SIGMA SOUND SESSIONS," a recording of a session at the elusive Sigma Studio, a newly excavated live recording has been released that has caused a stir among Bowie enthusiasts around the world. It was the LA Forum on February 9, 1976. There should be many enthusiasts who will recognize this venue just by looking at the name and date. Yes, it is the nostalgic 1976 LA Forum that was heard on the ancient LP "WISH UPON A STAR." There were three performances at the same arena during the 1976 ISOLAR tour, but surprisingly, until now, only the previous LP has been available. In that case, there was hope for the existence of a recording by legendary taper Mike Millard, since it was a performance at the LA Forum, but the JEMS team, who continue to release his masters, has sadly reported that "Millard has not seen Bowie in 1976." Considering that Bowie had established such a status that he was able to perform three nights at the LA Forum during the ISOLAR tour, it is a shame that there are no recordings other than the previous LP. In addition, the LP itself had a big problem. Since it was a single LP format, it was far from a complete live recording. Despite this, it was the only 1976 LA Forum sound source to date, so an LP-dropped item was even released on CD. Therefore, it was a performance that had been shrouded in mystery for a long time, but this year, another taper in the JEMS team suddenly released an audience recording of Bowie's LA Forum performance, causing a stir among enthusiasts around the world. Strangely, it was the same performance on February 9th as "WISH UPON A STAR", which was even more surprising. The recording was made by the same taper as the Rolling Stones' "L.A. FORUM 1975 2ND NIGHT", which was also a hot topic as a rare recording. Therefore, it is a mono audience recording, but unfortunately the sound quality is inferior to the "WISH UPON A STAR" LP. In the first place, the LP itself was not particularly good sound quality, but the sound source this time was recorded in a state where distortion of the sound, mainly the bass, was noticeable, and it cannot be denied that the quality is closer to the range of rough recording. There were also cuts in "The Jean Genie". Nevertheless, it is certainly a significant historical excavation in that it revealed the whole picture of the live performance, including songs that could not be heard on LP until now. Among them, what surprised maniacs all over the world the most was the appearance of a new live version of "Sister Midnight", which had only been recorded in Seattle before the LA Forum and in the tour rehearsal (and was also performed in Toronto on the 26th, although it was unreleased). It was performed here too! A new fact was discovered. Since it was an unreleased song, it even captured the audience quieting down during the live performance on this day, which was showing a great excitement overall. And the saxophone that Bowie played during the interval of "TVC15", which was known as a legendary scene among maniacs since the "WISH UPON A STAR" era. It seems that Bowie came up with the idea right after the start of the tour, when he was full of experimental spirit, but the essential tone was not so good and he returned to singing. The LP producer mentioned above must have been burned into this scene, as there was a large illustration of a saxophone written on the slick. Therefore, the sound quality is harsh, and it is certainly an audience recording for enthusiasts, but please try out this valuable sound source that has been historically excavated.
