This year marks 40 years since the release of his debut album "Three Imaginary Boys" and 30 years since the release of his masterpiece "Disintegration", so 2019 is filled with topics such as a reenactment of all the songs, and his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Cure. This is the first time The Cure has come to Japan in about 6 years since their now legendary appearance in 2013, when they performed a total of 36 songs for 2 hours and 50 minutes. Bassist Simon Gallup was unable to go to Japan due to personal circumstances, and his son Eden Gallup took part in the performance in his place, but Eden's young and powerful playing caused tension among the existing members. It gives Naeba's groove a special feel and new blood. Compared to the legendary live performance at Fuji Rock's last visit to Japan (which set a record for the longest performance on the Green Stage), this live was almost two hours long, and was a sophisticated performance that exquisitely balanced Robert Smith's expressive form. This is a set list. First of all, "Plainsong", which has a profound and solemn phrase, continues, followed by "Pictures of You" and "High" Title, which are refreshing songs that seem to pierce through to the Naeba sky. A neo-psychedelic euphoric atmosphere filled the venue with the sentimental songs ``A Night Like This'', ``Lovesong'', and ``Last Dance''.In the middle of the song, Robert blows his flute, creating a heavy frenzy. "Burn" is a song that fans will definitely want to listen to, as it flows from the unexpectedly danceable song "Fascination Street" to the club-friendly dance tune "Never Enough." The Cure closed with their youth anthem "Boys Don't Cry," making it a rich encore that seems to have re-extracted the best parts of this set. This year marks the 40th anniversary of The Cure's formation. Fuji is a great way to get to know Cure's current mode, and I think even beginners of Fuji Cure will be able to enjoy the sophisticated stage and set list.
