A must-see video title for all hard rock fans is here! An astonishing 40-minute recording of the first "Drummer's Camp" held in 1990, in which Cozy Powell participated as a "special lecturer," from a secret camera master. This work is a great historical excavation that is on par with the "Cozy Tapes" series that has been released so far! Koji came to Japan with many of the bands he participated in, including RAINBOW and WHITESNAKE. All of those performances in Japan are remembered as special by fans. However, Cozy in Japan is not only remembered for his band activities and live performances. For drum players who admire Koji, he is a very memorable presence as a seminar ``lecturer''. If I were to pick one, it would first remind me of the "Special Rock Drum Seminar" held in Tokyo when RAINBOW came to Japan in May 1980. This event, which attracted not only aspiring drummers but also many Cozy fans, left a strong impression with its Q&A session with Cozy, drum demonstrations, and the now legendary "tearing the textbook" event. You can check the pattern in "SPECIAL ROCK DRUM SEMINAR" recorded by Miracle Man). However, there is actually another "drum seminar" that Koji held in Japan. That was the "Big Drummers Camp" held at a resort facility in Mie Prefecture during the first week of August 1990. Cozy, who was a member of BLACK SABBATH at the time, came to Japan in between recording the masterpiece ``TYR'' and touring, and served as the ``Special Overseas Lecturer'' for the memorable first event (this At the time, Peter Erskine, known for works such as WEATHER REPORT, also participated as one of the overseas lecturers). This seminar, which was held in a training camp format, was only for drummers, so it is not as well known among general music fans as the seminar from 10 years ago. However, the content was very deep, and the participants (including the Japanese instructors) remember it very deeply, as they were able to come into close contact with Koji and other instructors. In this work, Koji's lecture and drum demonstration at the "Big Drummers Camp" are recorded with perfect image quality and screen composition taken by those involved! You can enjoy about 40 minutes of extremely valuable footage that was originally not even known to exist, let alone seen! Now, let's play the disc. The video starts with Koji entering the "classroom". Although Omoto is a VTR master from over 20 years ago, the freshness of the material is outstanding from the beginning, and Koji's smiling face is captured with clear outlines and sharp image quality. In the next scene, he sat on his own drum set and performed the intro to "Stargazer." You can see him instructing the students in detail with the help of an interpreter. The main part of the video is mainly shot from close up on the left side facing Cozy. Cozy's appearance fills the screen. Furthermore, the sound of the drums is incredibly powerful! This alone will impress fans who admire Koji. With this intro to "Stargazer," you can understand Cozy's style of valuing the mood and mood of the scene as well as his own sensibilities that flash at the moment. Do you do it casually during lectures and Q&A sessions with students? By praising the music makers who invited them and making the students laugh with jokes (so great that even the interpreters were laughing), they livened up the mood in the room. The scene where the sticks are handed over to the students is a must-see! Next is a scene where Koji took advantage of his off time and went to the cart stop inside the facility. Koji was also a racer when he was young. He is also very good at handling the steering wheel, easily attacking the inside of the course (the most impressive thing is his happy expression). Following the second lecture that appears in the middle of the video, he performs a pattern using "Mars" from the mid-'80s, as well as a dynamic drum solo unique to Cozy, so don't miss this part. After the final speech of thanks, a session was held with Japanese officials (probably instructors). "Grasshopper Shuffle," which seems like it's going to explode the screen and speakers, and "Blues," which takes a turn and captivates with its powerful play, both feature Cozy's unique drumming, making you fully enjoy it at its most powerful. And the last song is the surprising “Moby Dick”! The passionate performance, which lasted over 10 minutes, featured bare-handed drumming, which is rare for Cozy, and this take is sure to surprise even avid Cozy fans (naturally, the room was very excited)! The entire 40 minutes of the video is full of special surprises, but it's worth picking up this movie just to see the last 10 minutes of "Moby Dick"! If an official Koji history video were to be made, this video is a special video that should be included in it. Cozy's demonstrations of the ``Stargazer'' intro, ``Grasshopper Shuffle,'' and ``Moby Dick'' are more than enough entertainment. Of course, for those who play the drums, they will be fascinated by this as if it were an ``instructional video starring Cozy.'' Normally, the existence of such footage of people involved would not be known. However, it is such a shame that this take is buried! We hope that all fans will enjoy this video, which has seen the light of day because it is a collector's item. One of the top cozy-related items in the past few years is a DVD with an original menu and perfect image quality, and it has been decided to be released at this point! A not-for-sale video created by a domestic manufacturer as a record for business use is converted directly to DVD from the master! ! A must-see for all Cozy fans.
