Coverdale Page's 1993 visit to Japan was a huge success, as it was the first time music enthusiasts of the CD generation had the chance to witness a live Jimmy Page. Even immediately after the end of his Japan-only live tour, new recordings began popping up like mushrooms after a rain. However, many of these recordings were of "just recorded using DAT," and audience recordings that were far from excellent were rampant even at the time. Released in 1994, after the Coverdale Page Japan tour release rush had died down, "WHOLE LOTTA LOVE: Last Live On Tour 1993" was highly praised for its superb audience recording quality, which completely overturned the previous releases from his 1993 tour. The fact that it was recorded in Nagoya, the final day of the tour, where "Whole Lotta Love" was the only performance, further exacerbated this. In fact, most of the 1993 Japan recordings released during this period were described as "clear but thin" or "clear but distant." In this respect, "WHOLE LOTTA LOVE" not only boasts excellent sound quality, but also an incredibly close-recorded sound image that remains undiminished to this day, a truly superb audience. This classic album was released on a one-off label called Victory and was forgotten over time. Fortunately, the original DAT master still exists. Based on this, the 2017 masterpiece "DEFINITIVE NAGOYA 1993" was released. Taking advantage of the sound quality of the DAT master, which was not possible with the technology of the 1994 release, this release was met with great acclaim and sold out. The same can be said for the sleek 2019 two-disc version, which omitted the valuable but undeniably unnecessary rehearsals. Thus, this masterpiece, which has become the best recording and best title of the 1993 Japan tour, is being released for the third time. Moreover, this time, under the supervision of "GRAF ZEPPELIN," the superb audience has been further refined. Even though this is a masterpiece recording that even GRAF ZEPPELIN said "there's no need to tweak anything," the finished product is still truly superb. It's a clear, unobstructed view, with a rich, solid bass, yet a wonderful balance that's different from the thumping, over-the-top sound. The sound quality has clearly improved compared to previous releases. And then there's "Whole Lotta Love," a track that's been a rage for enthusiasts since its inception, and its performance is truly fascinating. It began with Denny Carmassi and Guy Pratt playing the backing guitar while Jimmy was playing the theremin during "Shake My Tree," and until halfway through, it was an incredibly rare performance of "Whole Lotta Love" without Jimmy joining in. This re-release finally allows us to enjoy this rare moment of a classic in perfect sound quality. Not only that, Coverdale sounds confident, as if it were the final day of a tour, and he's in high spirits, repeatedly yelling "Utattee!" Yet, this recording, which managed to capture the performance's core sound without overpowering the surrounding excitement, is a truly exceptional recording. Coverdale Page's Nagoya concert, which always received rave reviews, has been elevated to a timeless masterpiece by GRAF ZEPPELIN, renowned as the "definitive 1993 Japan tour." This is the ultimate! Using the original DAT master, it offers unprecedented, pinnacle sound quality. This latest remaster from the master DAT that was the basis for the 2-CD "WHOLE LOTTA LOVE: Last Live On Tour 1993" (Victory / SBM 22/12 9301/2), originally recorded in February 1994, of the Nagoya concert immediately after their Japan tour. The mid-high frequencies have been slightly boosted, resulting in a slightly brighter sound. The waveform is also somewhat softened, emphasizing the full range. Among the multiple titles released at the same time as the Victory album, such as the Mad Dogs-style 2CD "THE FINAL STAGE" (CP-003/4), and the Scorpio-style 4CD "FIRST & LAST" (BU-01/02/NAG-01/02) released in the mid-'90s, this recording was rated as the best at the time, and even now it has very high sound quality and no forced manipulations.
