This 97-minute complete recording of the trio's live performance at the annual jazz festival "Montreux Jazz Festival" on July 5, 1985, was recorded using stereo sandboard sound from the local FM on-air master. The members are Miroslav Vitous, who also participated in Chick's 1968 release "Now He Sings, Now He Sobs" and was the first bassist for Weather Report, and Roy Haynes, one of the most important drummers in bebop, who has participated in numerous recordings. Starting with Coltrane's "Bessie's Blues," the performance gradually heats up, with standard numbers "I Hear A Rhapsody" and "Autumn Leaves" being played at length, and each member also has their own solo section, with Chick's piano solo in the middle and the three members each performing their own improvisational performances. Roy's nearly 12-minute drum solo is particularly impressive, and the album closes with a solemn closing number, "Autumn Leaves." This collector's edition is a must-listen for fans. DISC 1 : 1.
