After divorcing Paul Bley, he and Michael Mantler, who remarried, established the Jazz Composers Orchestra Association in 1966 to protect and liberate musicians from commercialism. In 1978, Carla Bley, who had a great influence on musicians who aspired to pursue true music, was leading her own band and embarking on her most active live tour in 1978. A two-disc set is now available for the first time, featuring two performances, one in Austin, Texas, in March and the other in Bremen, Germany, in July, both of which were recorded on extremely high-quality soundboards!
