CAMEL has made a “miraculous return to Japan” for the first time in 16 years. A superb live album containing the Tokyo performance is now available. The other day, "OSAKA 2016" was very popular during this Japan tour, and this work is the audience album of "EX THEATER Roppongi May 20, 2016". This week, the final performance "PROGRESSIVE ROCK FES 2016" will also be released at the same time, so let's check the schedule here. ・May 18th: Osaka/Namba Hatch “OSAKA 2016” ・May 20th: Tokyo/EX THEATER Roppongi [This work] ・May 21st: Tokyo/EX THEATER Roppongi ・May 22nd: Tokyo/Hibiya Outdoor Dai Ongakudo "PROGRESSIVE ROCK FES 2016" As you can see, this time's CAMEL will have a total of 4 performances. The final day “May 22nd” is “PROGRESSIVE ROCK FES” with STEVE HACKETT and others, but this work is a solo performance. It is a full set performance where you can listen to plenty of “Preparation / Dunkirk,” “Air Born,” “Lunar Sea,” and “Drafted,” which were not played at the festival. This work was recorded by the same recording artist who recorded “PROGRESSIVE ROCK FES 2016” (furthermore, it is also the same as Steve Hackett’s masterpiece “KAWASAKI 2016 (Virtuoso 290/291)”). The other day's "OSAKA 2016" was the work of the master craftsman "Western Japan's Strongest Taper", but on the other hand, it is a masterpiece by a famous taper representing East Japan. The sound is amazing, even close to “OSAKA 2016”. If you've listened to "OSAKA 2016", you'll know that it even rivals the sound that made that "strongest" man say "ideal." Of course, the venues, equipment, and techniques are different, so the personalities are quite different. This work is also so clear that I wouldn't hesitate to call it "just like a soundboard", and it has a sense of realism that can't be compared to "OSAKA 2016". However, if I were to compare them, I would say that the mids and highs, with their beautiful, vivid contours, are much more forward, and the bass is clearer. I would say “Gorgeous “OSAKA 2016”” or “This work has a sense of transparency”. The fantasy world depicted with its transparent sound is dazzlingly beautiful. On this visit to Japan, we were able to listen to Andy Latimer's unfading guitar playing, which has made a miraculous comeback, and it flows out into a transparent space, creating a shining musical world. Even more impressive is Peter Jones, the much-talked-about blind keyboard player. The ever-changing and outstanding tones, brilliant finger movements, clear singing voices, and even the three-voice harmony of Andy and Colin Bass...every corner resonates crystal clear. It is full of beauty and delicacy that "looks like it will break if you touch it." As I mentioned repeatedly in the commentary for "OSAKA 2016," the "miracle" did not end in just one night. This is a 100% superb audience album that proves that. You can listen to it as the Kanto edition of CAMEL's "OSAKA 2016", collect it as a trilogy by the same recording artist with "PROGRESSIVE ROCK FES 2016" and Steve Hackett's "KAWASAKI 2016", or as a single live album. A superb item. Of course, for those who have experienced the scene, this is a two-disc set that will leave you with unparalleled memories forever. The beautiful progressive rock that bloomed in Japan in 2016. We hope you enjoy it to the fullest with your ears, heart, and sensibilities.
