Despite being at the height of his popularity, Bruce Springsteen's River Tour remains largely undocumented. Ten years ago, an official pro-shot from Tempe, Arizona, was released, providing some satisfying footage, but otherwise, the tour remains largely undocumented. However, this past July, 8mm footage of the long-dormant St. Paul performance on October 13th suddenly appeared on YouTube, surprising enthusiasts worldwide. As an 8mm film, it runs less than 20 minutes and primarily captures the early performance in bits and pieces. However, even the footage from the audience, shot from the balcony beside the stage rather than the usual front, offers unobstructed viewing by the audience, making it one of the most accessible audience shots of the time. Thanks to this, even Springsteen's storm into the audience during "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out" and his subsequent return, jostled by the crowd, are perfectly captured. Additionally, Springsteen's long-sleeved patterned shirt worn under his jacket early in the concert is typical of the River Tour fashion. Furthermore, the audio is meticulously dubbed from the audience recordings from the same day, making the video truly enjoyable and live. For example, Springsteen's MC performance before "Independence Day" feels natural. Coupled with this 20-minute video is 8mm footage capturing the unique charm of the early River Tour, also shot from the audience at the Richfield concert on January 1, 1979, posted by the same YouTube account as the St. Paul video. This was the historic final show of the beloved Darkness Tour, and this rare footage has captivated fans worldwide. Surprisingly, this footage is captured from an even clearer and closer angle than the 1980 St. Paul video, offering a brief, professional-quality shot. The still-slim Springsteen storming the stage is a testament to the Darkness Tour. Even though it's only 6 minutes long and fragmented, it's a captivating video. Of course, the audience recordings from the day have been dubbed, so you can watch it with peace of mind. Both videos have been carefully transferred from the original 8mm footage, and the clear image quality is excellent. St. Paul Civic Center, St. Paul, MN, USA 13th October 1980 AMAZIZNG SHOT!!!
