Even in April 2016, when legendary artists flooded in during the month, and for Japanese rock fans it felt like Obon and New Year had come together, the high-quality sounds put together by talented musicians and the current state of music. Brian Wilson became a hot topic for his lively singing voice. Our store will be releasing his items for the first time in a while. Nearly ten years ago, our store quietly released a soundboard recording of his 2001 tour. This was titled ``ALL FOR THE SEA BENEFIT,'' which was a recording of the benefit concert he performed between June and July of the same year in between his joint tours with Paul Simon. Although it was a soundboard recording that boasts high sound quality, it did not become a hot topic among enthusiasts as expected. In fact, the sound board recording contained here was a sound source obtained exclusively by our store. What's more, it was based on the original DAT master that was given directly by the staff who were directly involved in Brian's staging. To be honest, even we at our store had forgotten about this sound source since the last release, but after seeing how popular it was at Brian's performance in Japan this time, we pulled it out for the first time in a while, and found out the contents of the live performance. I was impressed by both the splendor and sound quality of this album, and thought that it should definitely be released. Looking back on the 2001 summer tour, it was a really interesting time. The active live tour that Brian started in 1999 caught on, and the performance of all the songs from the "PET SOUNDS" album, which was repeated on this visit to Japan as before, was practiced for the first time on the 2000 tour and was a success. , a transition period that was about to move on to the next stage concept. The concept is to complete "SMILE", one of the most famous unfinished albums in rock history, and recreate it on stage. As a first step towards that, at Brian's tribute concert held in March, he sang "Heroes and Villains", the core of "SMILE", which became a big topic. The failure of "SMILE" was a huge trauma for Brian. It is no exaggeration to say that Brian sang “Heroes and Villains” which was sealed because of that…History has proven that this was the entrance to the next step of his live stage. Brian was encouraged by the reaction to singing the same song at an event in March, and with the help of his surrounding band members, he introduced more "SMILE" related numbers. However, it was a long road from there, but it was a real shock to be able to come into contact with "SMILE" so far at that time. Although Brian was still in “PET SOUNDS” mode, the preciousness of hearing such a transient stage with the best sound board recording is now ingrained in me. Moreover, even though it is on tour, it is a short stage performance of an event appearance. Despite this, I can't help but get chills when I think that the short "SMILE" song corner is a preview of a later project to recreate the same album. Moreover, the entire stage had a completely different pattern and set list from the current tour structure, which is why it seems so nostalgic now. And above all, the best sound quality. A super valuable sound source that allows you to reconfirm the stage of a very precious time will finally be released as an updated version!
