This newly discovered recording features a high-quality stereo audience recording of a 1993 club gig, approximately one year before the release of The Brian Setzer Orchestra's debut album! This rare recording features a high-quality stereo audience recording of a live performance at the Palomino Club in Hollywood, California, on April 29, 1993, approximately one year before the release of The Brian Setzer Orchestra's debut album in March 1994. Digitally transferred directly from the newly discovered cassette master, this recording delivers a wide range of rich, well-balanced sound, including vocals, guitar, and every other part. The recording has also been carefully remastered to correct any pitch imperfections inherent in the master. While a few seconds of the intro to the opening track, "Good Rockin' Daddy," is missing, the rest of the recording is flawless. The setlist centered on tracks from his debut album, including Stray Cats self-covers "Stray Cat Strut" and "Drink That Bottle Down." This night, however, featured two incredibly rare covers not available anywhere else! This performance featured "Lovin' Machine," a 1952 single by Wynonie Harris, the R&B shouter who inspired Elvis in the late '40s and early '50s. Wynonie Harris' cover of "Wasnt That Good" from the Stray Cats is crucial to understanding Brian's roots, but this track is incredibly rare and has yet to be released on audio. Plus, he played "I've Got You Under My Skin," a Frank Sinatra classic written by Cole Porter and featured in the 1936 musical film "The Great American Show." Rock This Town is performed in an arrangement close to the original, before the orchestral arrangement was added, and includes a rare cover of one of the earliest Brian Setzer Orchestra tracks, making this a must-have item for fans!
