The second day of the 1986 Budokan concert, when Bob Dylan came to Japan with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, is still a bestseller, with the audience recording "BUDOKAN 1986 2ND NIGHT," but there is also a professional shot video. However, it was filmed with a single camera for news purposes with permission from Dylan's side, and was broadcast overseas at the time on MTV and other networks along with an interview (Dylan, the grumpy guy, was hooded, which was typical of him). Later, a long version of this video, including unused parts, was leaked, and it was a video that was known to a certain extent among core enthusiasts since the video era. However, the version being released this time is the one that was broadcast on a local Japanese station at the time. Instead of the interview, it is longer than MTV. The length is the same as the leaked version, excluding the interview. Furthermore, although the image quality is not of master quality, it is much easier to see than the leaked version that has been around since the video era. Of course, as any enthusiast who has seen the previous leaked version will know, all the performance scenes are in bits and pieces because they were filmed for news broadcasts. This is inevitable since the footage was not filmed for the purpose of a live program. Still, the performance scenes of "Positively 4th Street" and "Clean Cut Kid" are captured for quite a long time, and you can also see Dylan playing the keyboard in the opening song "Justine," which was a hot topic among enthusiasts at the time. Furthermore, the sight of him singing with great enjoyment in "Seeing The Real You At Last" is impressive. Although Dylan later confessed in his autobiography that he was "thinking about retirement and not motivated" at this time, at least at the beginning of this tour, it seems that he was honestly enjoying the stage. Another thing worth mentioning is that the audio in the video is a soundboard recording with a PA out. Although it was recorded with one camera, it was an officially authorized video recording, and the audio is from a soundboard, as expected. This is also a valuable point. Because it was filmed for news, it only captured Dylan's figure, but at the end of the concert, when the cameraman came on stage to "Like A Rolling Stone," the cameraman also came on stage to close in on the members of the Heartbreakers, who had not been shown much until then. Now that Tom Petty and bassist Howie Epstein have passed away, it can be said to be a valuable piece. Although it is a single-camera recording of less than 30 minutes, it is well worth watching as the only existing professional shot footage of the 1986 Japan tour. Another attraction is that you can see Dylan's smart and youthful looks wearing a leather vest unique to this year. This is a rare video that enthusiasts who thought that the past versions were like that should definitely see! Live at Budokan, Tokyo, Japan 10th March 1986 PRO-SHOT (33:54) 1. Justine 2.
