Washington's next show was in Portland on May 31st. There was no change in the set list that day, but the opening had a surprise that made enthusiasts all over the world go crazy. A Telecaster used by non-band members was set up on the stage, and when the opening number "Watching The River Flow" started, Dylan, none other than himself, put the Telecaster on his shoulder, causing a commotion in the venue. The sound source released this time clearly conveys the roaring of the venue. And he starts playing lead guitar for the first time in a long time. Yes, that "Dylan style" explodes. This audience recording is also made with the same taper as the Washington release at the same time, but it also has great sound quality, so the phrases that Dylan played after a long time are perfect. However... it's not that easy (laughs). After playing lead guitar for nearly three minutes, Dylan puts down the Telecaster and moves to the usual piano. It's also interesting to see the surprising realism of the development being conveyed perfectly. However, since the performance included guitar parts, "Watching The River Flow" on this day was longer than usual. However, Dylan himself must have enjoyed playing a little guitar in the middle of the performance. After this, when the performance of "False Prophet" approached the second half, he lowered the Telecaster again and started playing the lead guitar (it was good to hear the cheers of "Waah!" at this point!), but since it was a bluesy tune, Dylan's playing was also brilliant. The sound source of this day is not as well balanced as Washington in terms of the sound image of Dylan's singing voice, but still, the sound image of the entire performance is very on and of the highest level. Since the recording is in such a safe state that you can listen to it, you can clearly see that Dylan is at full throttle even after the surprise opening. The impact of playing guitar on stage for the first time in a while was so strong that the topic was focused on the first half of the live, but Dylan was in top form again this day. Dylan also occasionally plays guitar in the opening of his current tour, and this "little lead guitar" mode seems likely to continue. We bring you the best sound quality and fastest performance of this turning point guitar stage!
