The DVDylan series, a project team that organizes Dylan's existing audience shot footage, restores audience shot footage taken with video cameras in the 1980s and 1990s, changes the narrow-range sound captured by the video camera to high-quality audience recordings and dubbing, and covers the parts that have not been recorded in still images, and continues to upload the complete recording titles of the concerts to the Internet. Due to its excellent finish, we have released the DVDylan series as gifts several times at our store, for example, Brighton 2002 is a new memory. The one chosen this time was Boston in 1989. In that year, Dylan completed the masterpiece "OH MERCY" produced by Daniel Lanois, who was introduced by U2's Bono in the spring. Since then, he has been touring energetically, but the songs from the album will not be performed until the album is released in the United States on September 18th. As soon as "OH MERCY" was released, it was highly praised as a masterpiece that shines with a brilliance that has not been seen in albums in recent years. The long-awaited tour started in the second week of October, three weeks after the release. After two months of planning, the songs from "OH MERCY" were finally performed live. You can hear the tour from this tour on the masterpiece "MERCY FOR POUGHKEEPSIE" released by our store, but unlike the tour up until September, this was literally an "OH MERCY" tour, featuring the songs from "OH MERCY" in a big way. Of course, this was during the peak of the Never Ending Tour featuring virtuoso GE Smith, but the period in which the songs from "OH MERCY" were pushed to the forefront was surprisingly short. This is because, as the public rehearsal at Toad's Place in 1990, which has also been released by our store, tells us, the repertoire expanded as soon as the new year began. The opening of the Boston show on October 24th, which will be released this time, also begins with "Seeing The Real You At Last", a pattern unique to this time of year. From there, the songs from "OH MERCY" were featured in abundance, while the performance proceeded almost without any gaps between songs, making it a jazz-like live performance that was unique to this period. However, since it is a one-camera audience shot, the footage only captures Dylan from start to finish, and the angle is undeniable. Smith, who plays the gold-top Les Paul, appears occasionally, and drummer Christopher Parker also makes a brief appearance. However, Tony Garnier, who is still in the Dylan band, does not appear at all. And the first tape ends when "It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry" begins, and the major flaw is that it is not filmed until the middle of the encore "Most Of The Time". Although it is filled with still images, which is DVDylan's specialty, this part is long, so overall it is at the level of "a picture is added as a bonus to the audience recording with good sound quality." However, the image quality of the DVD, which was carefully converted from the video master, is surprisingly fresh, and the audience recording is also meticulously dubbed. And the highlights unique to this stage are abundant, such as Dylan playing songs in rapid succession and using different ways of holding chords to provide a sharp backing while GE plays the lead.
