Just as the precious session recordings of "THE FREEWHEELIN' BOB DYLAN" were released 10 years ago, sending enthusiasts all over the world into ecstasy, in 2014 precious recordings from 1964 were released all at once. The highlight of these was Dylan's first official UK concert at the Royal Festival Hall on May 17th. Because of this historic night, the concert had been reported for a long time, and it was also revealed that it had actually been officially recorded. In other words, it was a regular stereo recording using a 4-track recorder, not a PA-out soundboard. However, when it comes to Dylan in 1964, the Halloween concert at the Philharmonic Hall on October 31st is so famous that it was released as "LIVE 1964" in the 21st century. Research by enthusiasts has revealed that there was a fine live recording about six months before the recording that represents Dylan in 1964, and there was a desire to unearth it. After that, in the 21st century, only two songs on acetate appeared, which made enthusiasts excited and at the same time made them realize that "it really exists...". As expected, the sound quality was excellent on the stereo soundboard. If that were to happen, everyone would want to hear the full-length version, but it was not "leaking" but "the passage of time" that made this possible. In 2014, the phantom Royal Festival Hall came to light due to "adult circumstances" that the sound source had been recorded for 50 years. However, it was released in a twisted format (lol) of only LP, and it was "LIVE AT ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL 1964" that was quickly made into a CD. Not only is it a phantom live recording, but the sound quality is also perfect for the reasons mentioned above. And yet, enthusiasts around the world were astonished by the performance content that was completely different from the Halloween concert. Until the sound source appeared, "Down the Highway", which was rumored to have been performed on the day, was not actually played, and it was even revealed that this was a false report. Not only was it a truly valuable sound source, but it also had the best sound quality in stereo, so it was inevitable that this live sound source, which was a dream come true for enthusiasts, would be made into a CD. Therefore, "LIVE AT ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL 1964" released in 2014 was naturally sold out. It was not just a reissue of an item that had become difficult to obtain, but a stable supply of Dylan's folk-era stereo soundboard album that even beginners can enjoy with confidence, let alone enthusiasts. So this time, the reissue that enthusiasts around the world have been waiting for will be realized, and Graf Zeppelin, who supervised the reissue, said that "there was almost no need to make any changes." Therefore, the part at the Royal Festival Hall is the same as the previous time, but some of the noise that occurred because it was based on an LP has been removed. More than that, Graf Zeppelin focused on the bonus tracks. These were also sound sources that were released at the same time in 2014, but the sound of the TV performance "With God On Our Side" had become distorted due to the deterioration of the original film. Graf Zeppelin adjusted that well. They even corrected the pitch itself. The performance and set list of Dylan's first UK stage, recorded in this way with the highest sound quality, are too interesting. In May 1964 in the UK, his latest album "THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN'" had just been released, and the British audience who packed into the Festival Hall had an overwhelming impression of "THE FREEWHEELIN' BOB DYLAN" and were expecting performances from that album. However, Dylan would not have done such market research before taking on the stage (laughs). He was in the midst of rapid growth as a songwriter, and the stage was a reflection of his latest mode at the time, with half of the songs from his latest album and the other half being new and old unreleased songs. The composition of the first half in particular was so aggressive that it could be said that it was too aggressive. From "THE FREEWHEELIN~", they barely managed to sing "Girl From The North Country" (the performance was wonderful), and they calmly sang unreleased songs such as "Talking John Birch Paranoid Blues" and "Walls Of Red Wing" that had not been recorded on the previous albums. Not only that, but they even played songs from their next album "ANOTHER SIDE OF BOB DYLAN", which had not even been recorded at this point. In the second half of the live performance, they performed "Restless Farewell", which had the same melancholy as the album, and even the shelved "Eternal Circle" from the same album, which was a valuable performance as the "THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN'" mode intensified. The best part was that it was not only a freshly written new song, but also the first time they sang "Mr. Tambourine Man", which was shelved in the sessions for the next album "ANOTHER SIDE~", in public at the Royal Festival Hall. That's why the careful and careful performance cannot help but touch the hearts of listeners. It was really lucky that the scene where this masterpiece, which will become a rare classic like "Blowin' In The Wind", was first performed live was recorded with the best sound quality. And in "ANOTHER SIDE" and the Halloween concert, Dylan's unique, soft singing style from the second half of 1964 (=marijuana) is clearly visible, but at this point, the energy from the previous year still remains, and his unique singing is also a major attraction of this recording. 1964 was a transitional year throughout the year, and the long-awaited release of a stereo soundboard album that captures even more precious stages with perfect sound quality! (Remastering memo) The sound is originally good, so it was almost untouched, and the occasional noise that bothered me was removed.
