Among the many live videos of Bob Dylan, there are probably many enthusiasts who say that the "HARD RAIN" TV special is their favorite. A masterpiece that captures the loose, rock stage of the second season of Rolling Thunder Revue. Although the recording time is less than an hour, it is a masterpiece video that perfectly condenses the charm of the stage at this time. Fortunately, this video benefited from the time when home VCRs started to become popular (although they were still expensive), and the footage was probably available at collector's video stores from the early stages. In the United States, it was broadcast several months after the concert (some LPs with audio from it were also released), but in Japan, it was broadcast in December 1977, just before Dylan came to Japan. What will be released is the Japanese broadcast version. The fact that it is a shortened version with the duet "Railroad Boy" with Joan Baez cut from the original American broadcast version is a major flaw, but the image quality is excellent. Two versions of this video have been in circulation: the American version and the Japanese broadcast version, but the Japanese version is definitely superior in terms of image quality. What you can't miss is the uniquely Japanese production, from the opening to the Showa-style subtitles and subtitles. This Dylan song is known for its difficult lyrics. Isn't it rather interesting that it is difficult to say that it has been translated properly? Also, at the opening it is introduced as “Rolling Thunder Review’s final performance”, but it is actually a mistake and it is correct that it is one before the final performance. By the way, the true final performance was May 25th in Salt Lake City, but it is a day wrapped in a veil where even audience recording has not yet been found. The most impressive of these uniquely Japanese productions are not only stars like Dylan, Baez, and Roger McGuinn, but also Rob Stoner, Howie Wyeth, and the Rolling Thunder Revue band such as Stephen Soles. Members will also be able to see their names properly. I think this is handled much more kindly than the American version. This surprisingly easy-to-see video captures the coolness of the late-stage Rolling Thunder Revue's loose performance. Currently, it is easier to see and hear the 1975 version of Thunder Revue through box sets and distributed movies, but it is no wonder that the sound has changed to become a completely different band just by crossing over the years. I can't. After all, Dylan opened his eyes to playing lead guitar in 1976 (lol), which is probably the main reason why the sound changed so much. In "Maggie's Farm," one of the best performances of the day, Dylan plays a lot of riffs, and the way the band matches him is clearly captured. His wild and enthusiastic performance is the secret to his popularity. And although the Japan Broadcasting version can now be easily viewed on YouTube, this time it is recorded from the original DVD "1975-1976 VIDEO ANTHOLOGY". Thanks to this, you can enjoy the loose and wild performance of the late Rolling Thunder Revue with even sharper image quality than the YouTube version. Moreover, "1975-1976 VIDEO ANTHOLOGY" itself was released over 15 years ago, so this DVD is sure to come in handy as it can be viewed easily. Enjoy the nostalgic version of the famous live footage of Dylan's rare masterpiece! Hughes Stadium, Fort Collins, Colorado, USA 23rd May 1976 PRO-SHOT(46:26) 1. A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall 2.
