Rare footage of both the rehearsal and actual performance of the legendary television broadcast that Dylan appeared on three months before starting his 1984 European tour. Around this time, Dylan received an offer to appear on the famous American talk show ``LATE NIGHT WITH DAVID LETTERMAN,'' and he accepted the appearance on the condition that there was no talk. However, at that time Dylan was away from live activities and did not have a band, so a young band called The Plugs was chosen. For them, being able to serve as Dylan's backup is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. There was no way he would refuse, and after a brief meeting and sound coordination at Dylan's house, recording will take place in New York on March 22nd. Surprisingly, from this recording, not only the actual footage but also the rehearsal footage was leaked, and it has become a standard rare footage for enthusiasts since the video era. Thanks to this, it became an excellent material that clearly conveys how stars change as performers between rehearsal and performance. During the rehearsal, Dylan (lol), who has a somewhat old man-like fashion, begins with "I Once Knew A Man," which seems to be an improvised song, and then briefly plays the two songs that he plans to play during the actual performance. A normal artist would probably rehearse more thoroughly, but Bob Dylan just plays in a casual atmosphere. From there, he started playing Roy Head's cover "Treat Her Right", which was not supposed to be featured in the actual performance, and with the plugs in the background, Dylan played the lead guitar to his heart's content and ended the rehearsal. As you can see from the way he played the lead here, Dylan himself was probably already motivated, but he doesn't seem to care about the band too much. Still, Plugs does his work silently, but during the recording session, Dylan suddenly changes. Of course, having my hair styled by a stylist turned me on as a performer. At the opening, "Don't Start Me To Talkin'", which was not originally intended to be featured, will be played with high tension. It is said that Dylan proposed this just before recording, but the band was obviously nervous. However, the sweet Dylan seemed to take advantage of this and sang enthusiastically. Even more interestingly, both "License To Kill" and "Jokerman" were arranged in such a way that Dylan removed the guitar in the middle and ended the performance by blowing the harmonica. The ultimate highlight is "Jokerman," a thrilling incident in which due to a staff mistake, a harmonica with the right key for the song was not prepared, and the Plugs continued to play while Dylan was left without one. However, when Dylan receives the correct harmonica, he continues to play without spoiling. In the end, the members of Plugs were even smiling at the camera. However, it is clear that this is a collaboration for this broadcast, and it is true that they are not a band that can do a large-scale tour. That's why Dylan was wise to form a band of experienced musicians and tour stadiums on his subsequent European tour. This appearance is considered legendary among Dylan enthusiasts due to the most thrilling performance performed on TV, but this time, a version that coupled the rehearsal and the actual performance that was posted on the Internet in 2015 will be recorded on DVD-R. . The image quality of the rehearsal version is rough because it was leaked, but the quality of the actual version is quite good.
