To commemorate the release of two of Dylan's masterpieces, we have prepared a rare recording of his early stage performances. The live recording of the Royal Festival Hall in 1964 was only revealed in its entirety at the end of 2014, but since it is a legitimate live recording, work was being done on it before that with the intention of releasing it. Columbia originally recorded Dylan's performances at Town Hall and Carnegie Hall in 1963, and combined them to create the first live album "BOB DYLAN IN CONCERT" in 1964. This album was completely completed, and even the acetate and album cover were made, but it was shelved. Undeterred, Columbia went ahead and recorded at the Festival Hall and the Halloween concert in 1964, but this time the talks on the release could not even be concluded. Due to this situation, the live recordings were left lying around in the tape vault, but when Dylan's recording contract with Columbia expired around 1973-74, the possibility of releasing them using these buried tapes began to be considered. As part of this, the famous "DYLAN" was released, but as for the live performances, "Tomorrow Is Long Time" from the Town Hall in 1963 was released on the best album "GREATEST HITS VOLUME 2", and the other recordings were shelved. So here is a live album that seems to have been experimentally edited from shelved recordings from his folk era from 1963 to 1964, engraved on acetate. Not only were the recordings selected evenly from the four stages, but also studio recording outtakes of "The Times They Are A-Changin'" and two songs, "Walls Of Red Wing" and "Hero Blues", were mixed in, and even cheers reused from the recordings of the previous four performances were added after the performance. As you can see from this, there is no doubt that Columbia at that time had a plan to release something using the unreleased recordings from Dylan's folk era that were sleeping in the warehouse. Otherwise, such an elaborate production would not have been possible. Still, it ended up in the archives, but a copy of the test tape ended up in the hands of Ralph Gleason (famous for Rolling Stone magazine), a music critic who was close to Dylan, and it seems that an acetate was engraved at Fantasy Records, which he managed. This forgotten record was unearthed in the 21st century. It quickly circulated among traders, and caused a stir because it included two tracks from the Festival Hall concert. However, now that the full picture of that day has been revealed, it is more interesting that such a uniquely edited live album was attempted. Moreover, the mix of the Halloween concert is completely different from the current "LIVE 1964", and the same goes for the Festival Hall concert, and the original recording is no longer available online. Furthermore, there are occasional acetate noises (there is a skip in "Gates of Eden"), but the appeal is that you can easily enjoy Dylan's best live performance from the folk era (which also includes studio outtakes) with its vintage feel and unique editing. Plus, the whole thing is a stereo soundboard! Acetate LP, Fantasy Records 77182 STEREO SBD 1. Who Killed Davey Moore 2. Gates Of Eden 3. Bob Dylan's New Orleans Rag 4. Seven Curses 5.
