Ritchie Blackmore shook the rock scene with the revival of RAINBOW. A live album featuring the best sound from the concert that marked the end of the historic year of 2016 is now available. The revival of RAINBOW in June 2016 was a shock. Richie has been eager to work in 2017 due to the overwhelming response, but his main path is BLACKMORE'S NIGHT. After the three RAINBOW performances, he immediately returned to BLACKMORE'S NIGHT concert activities. We reported on "After RAINBOW" in "STARGAZER IN ARLINGTON 2016" right away, but an even better live album has arrived. Since information on BLACKMORE'S NIGHT is not readily available in Japan, let's summarize "After RAINBOW" here.・July 1st: Prague (Czech Republic) ・July 3rd: Magdeburg (Germany) ・July 8th: Berlin (Germany) ・July 13th: Bochum (Germany) ・July 15th: Creuzburg (Germany) ・August 12th: Ridgefield (USA) ・August 14th: Arlington (USA) "STARGAZER IN ARLINGTON 2016" ・August 19th: Stroudsburg (USA) ・August 21st: Wilmington (USA) ・October 14th: Patchogue (USA) ・October 16th: Lakewood (USA) ・October 29th: Harrisburg (USA) [This work] 13 performances in total. This is the schedule announced so far, and all of the gigs that took place after the revival of RAINBOW. It may seem like a lot when lined up, but if you think about it, it's only 13 performances in six months. BLACKMORE'S NIGHT has a handmade feel to its musicality, but the schedule also shows that the band is very laid-back. This work was recorded at the Harrisburg performance on October 29, 2016. It is the audience album of the final day. The sound is truly superb. The gift album "STARGAZER IN ARLINGTON 2016" also had a great sound, but this work is also difficult to choose. The "Sunoko Performance Theater" where the work was performed is a venue with a capacity of 700 people, but the atmosphere is crystal clear while the intimacy of the home is warm and warm. Even though the large group of seven people makes full use of various instruments, the sound is clearly separated, and not only the expression of each instrument but also the expression of each sound is clearly conveyed. Of course, Richie's guitar, mandolin, domra, and hurdy-gurdy are also wonderful sounds that permeate vividly. The "Blackmore music" depicted with that quality is magnificent. Some people said that Richie had "diminished" because he couldn't remember the key phrases in the revived RAINBOW, but that's not the case. Every song is filled with delicate and dynamic phrases, and the flashes of improvisation are dazzling. The tone is beautiful and melting, and his smoothly moving fingertips are never stagnant. This is the world of music that Richie has pursued and immersed himself in for 20 years. Although he was moved by the revival of RAINBOW, the world of beauty that grabs his soul and does not let go is spun with the finest sound. It is not only Richie who makes you feel the accumulation of 20 years. His partner Candice is also wonderful. She once showed a lovely singing voice at a performance in Japan, but now she is a strong mother who has two children with Richie. Her motherly voice is warm and gentle, and yet she has not lost any beauty. Of course, Candice is the main star of the show. She makes the audience laugh with jokes, asks about her hometown in a friendly manner, and wraps the entire venue in a warm atmosphere. When Candice says, "You all came from all over the world. Where are you from? Tennessee?", Richie strums "Republic Hymn". This live album has a very natural exchange. This warm and exquisite musical space was also enjoyed in "STARGAZER IN ARLINGTON 2016", but in this work, you can enjoy "Dance Of The Darkness", "Ghost Of A Rose", "Wind In The Willows", and "All Because Of You" that were not heard there. This is a masterpiece live album that should be touched by those who were moved by the revived RAINBOW, as well as those who were not. Even now that RAINBOW has been revived, BLACKMORE'S NIGHT is still said to be "better than RAINBOW". Its overflowing improvisation actually allows you to meet "that Richie" more than RAINBOW. RAINBOW may start moving in earnest next year, but the final performance is indispensable for interpreting the rainbow colors. Even without RAINBOW, this is still an excellent music album that will warm you up during these cold weather days.
