Ritchie Blackmore made headlines in the rock world in 2016 with his RAINBOW revival. He has expressed his intention to continue with RAINBOW next year, and I can't help but look forward to the continuation of his dream, but his main job is BLACKMORE'S NIGHT. After RAINBOW's revival performance, they immediately resumed their activities at BLACKMORE'S NIGHT and are still continuing to do so. Richie's latest live album is now available. The most notable point of this work is that they play "Stargazer", which also attracted attention in the new RAINBOW (!). We have previously featured RAINBOW numbers such as “Ariel,” “Sixteenth Century Greensleeves,” and “The Temple of the King,” but this is the first time for “Stargazer.” It is a short performance of about 2 minutes and is treated as a prelude to "Diamonds And Rust", but he seems to like it very much on RAINBOW. However, although "Stargazer" is the highlight, it is not the most delicious. The biggest flavor of this work is its quality. It must be an audience recording because the lively applause of the venue rises as soon as it is played, but its clarity is outside the common sense of audience recording. Anyway, the atmosphere at the scene is clear and there is no sense of distance. Richie's acoustic guitar seems to be able to hear not only the slight picking nuances, but also the sound of the strings rubbing, and Candice Knight's singing voice is so vivid that you can clearly hear even the slightest change in the effect. All the other instruments are very close and very clear, but the drums are especially wonderful. Even with just one cymbal work, it's super vivid, from the intense attack sound to the way the "ringing" sound disappears. It's so vivid that I think it was recorded on line with a drum microphone. The main character of the latest BLACKMORE'S NIGHT, which is drawn with such a sound, is Ritchie Blackmore himself. The splendor of the guitar work is breathtakingly wonderful. The new RAINBOW has gotten better day by day, but it is clearly on a different level. Every single cut is crisp, and the delicate phrases are full of inspiration and beauty. Whether it's the dramatic "World of Stone," the intense "Dancer and the Moon," or the delicate "Soldier of Fortune," the familiar " Even in ``Durch den Wald zum Bach Haus,'' the dazzling melody gushes out like a never-ending fountain. This fierce sense of active duty... or should I say, shining genius. This is not a story that is about to decline, but the talent that we loved so much has changed and continues to shine brightly. I don't want to say too much, but RAINBOW was not his true path after all, Richie is already "a person on this side"...The performance that makes you realize that is unfolded throughout the whole story. Even so, it's wonderful. Really amazing. Absolutely amazing. If you don't care about whether it's rock music or not, there's Richie who burns fiercely, and there's also him who spins beautifully. The genius guitarist Ritchie Blackmore is still alive and well. The latest version of BLACKMORE'S NIGHT, which he devoted half his life to and which he has cultivated over the past 19 years. If next year's RAINBOW can show even half of this inspiration, what a wonderful show it will be...a live show that exudes such expectations and (a little) loneliness. A music album that depicts the whole story with the most beautiful sound. For those of you who will continue to love Blackmore's music forever. I present you this masterpiece.
