"EVIL MAN" and "DARK KNIGHT" are also very popular BLACK SABBATH's first tour to Japan in 1980, and another masterpiece joins the group! SABBATH's memorable first performance in Japan on November 16th at Nakano Sunplaza in Tokyo, during the daytime, was a 2-CD set with an ultra-high-quality audience source that directly used the "Miracle Man" recording master. The release has been decided! BLACK SABBATH was reborn with Ronnie James Dio after the confusion at the end of the original formation with Ozzy Osbourne. After completing their 1980 American tour, they finally held a Japan tour. SABBATH's visit to Japan, which had been planned several times in the early 1970s but could not be realized due to various problems, was a long-cherished wish for fans at the time. Although the frontman had changed from Ozzy to Ronnie (thanks to that change), their first visit to Japan was held amid great attention. Over the course of about a week from November 16th to November 21st, they performed a total of 6 performances in 3 cities: Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. In particular, in Tokyo, we held a majority of four performances, starting with two daytime and evening performances at Nakano Sun Plaza on the 16th, Nippon Seinenkan on the 17th, and the third Sun Plaza on the 18th. On the 18th, the final day in Tokyo, "EVIL MAN" using the audience source recorded by Miracle Man, and "DARK KNIGHT" containing newly discovered official soundboard sound sources appeared one after another. In both cases, the things that surprised fans are still fresh in my memory. In this memorable SABBATH's first visit to Japan, Miracle Man will be performing not only on the 18th, but also during the afternoon session on the 16th, the first time in Japan (as with "EVIL MAN" mentioned above), from the front row of the audience seats. I was recording the whole story! The 18th was an unexpected live show due to Iommi's sudden illness, but the afternoon session on the 16th was a regular live show as usual. Every fan who listened to "EVIL MAN" wished for "a full-scale recording of the 1980 SABBATH live performance recorded by Miracle Man", and this work is realized! As you can hear in this recording and “EVIL MAN”, from this opening, Miracle Man records the mood of the venue with clear clarity and realistic force. As soon as the disc was played, the sound of a heavy bell and a thunderstorm SE echoed, and the solemn intro "Supertzar" echoed throughout the venue. The moment "Supertzar" suddenly stopped, Iommi began spinning the heavy riff of "War Pigs" guided by Vinnie Appice's drums! This momentary tension is sure to give fans a chill every time they listen to it! Geezer's bass sound was distinctive in "EVIL MAN," but what catches the ear here is Iommi's guitar. It approaches with incredible realism and awesomeness that can be said to be on par with the sound board sound source “DARK KNIGHT”! Of course, on this day, Taper took up a perfect position in the front row to the right (the ticket says 0th row 37th on the 1st floor), and right in front of Iommi, and from there he was able to set up his equipment perfectly on stage. Apparently he was recording for. Not only is it a crisp and clear recording (the tape-like texture is great!), Iommi's guitar sound has a strong presence, and the band's performance is completely uninterrupted by audience noise, making it easy to listen to. Only if you take the right position. “War Pigs” and “Neon Knights” performed with this tone are truly agony level! Of course, Ronnie's vocals and Geezer's bass are also incredibly listenable, competing fiercely with Iommi's guitar. The sound pressure and weight from the midrange to the bass are so thick that you'll want to say, "This is SABBATH!" The heaviness of "N.I.B." and "Sweet Leaf" reproduced with a rich bottom sound will knock out even the most serious maniacs who are only interested in the Ozzy era. For Ronnie, this stage was his first live performance in Japan in 2 years and 9 months since February 1978 when he came to Japan with RAINBOW. Although there was no Budokan performance at this SABBATH, you can feel the spirit of standing on the Japanese stage again everywhere. ``Neon Knights'' and ``Iron Man'' overwhelm the listener with the spirited singing voice unique to the 1980 tour, ``Children Of The Sea'' with his typical melodious singing, and one of the best stories of the time. His success with “Black Sabbath” and “Heaven And Hell”, which showed off his terror, is outstanding. The highlight of this work is the long guitar solo in the second half of the live that cannot be heard on the 18th live, and the subsequent songs “Die Young” and “Paranoid”. Iommi's guitar, which has a backbone in jazz, plays wildly for over 10 minutes in a guitar solo, and there is also a heavy intertwined jam with Vinnie and Geezer (the beginning of the solo, which was missing in the previous recordings on the same day, is also included) ). “Die Young”, which dramatically colors the climax of the live performance, has Iommi’s guitar at its peak! Here, listeners will be able to experience the surprise of an unexperienced zone! The listener won't have time to relax even for a moment as this work is full of surprises and thrills for 90 minutes until the encore "Paranoid"! This work, which captures BLACK SABBATH's memorable first landing in Japan and Ronnie's return to Tokyo for the first time in 2 years and 9 months, with the best tone and exquisite power, has great value as a "historical record". An overwhelming live documentary! For SABBATH's first tour to Japan, excellent live sources have been discovered in recent years, and there was a feeling that all the standard sound sources were available. However, since such extraordinary recordings appear like comets, we still don't know much about them. A superb piece that rivals the same Miracle Man recording on the last day of Tokyo, "EVIL MAN," is now available as a 2-CD set that is a must-listen for all hard rock fans!
