The soundboard sound source "CHILDREN OF THE BLACK", which is considered an absolute must-listen for the "HEAVEN AND HELL" tour in which Ronnie James Dio joined BLACK SABBATH, is now the "Definitive Edition" with all upgraded sound quality and appearance. A special release has been decided! There are many sound board sound sources on the 1980 tour, but this Hartford performance is literally an official sound. You can enjoy historical sound sources that must be preserved for posterity with the finest sound to the fullest! For those who are listening to this recording for the first time, I would like to explain it again. This sound source is a recording of the Hartford, Connecticut performance on August 10th from the American tour accompanying the release of “HEAVEN AND HELL” in 1980. Broadcast on music programs such as “King Biscuit Flower Hour” and “Supergroups In Concert,” Aircheck Sauce has long been a standard, and now the official “Deluxe Edition” includes a portion of the radio broadcast version. There is. It is a representative sound source of “Bill Ward & Ronnie Dio” which can be said to be officially recognized. This work is the preliminary source of these broadcast sound sources. When it first appeared in 2007, it caused a big stir because it allowed you to enjoy the unedited, complete version of the show, starting with the opening BGM "Supertzar." The “HEAVEN AND HELL” tour is known as a treasure trove of great sound sources. ” and other definitive class items. However, this Hartford performance is called “special” and “absolute” even on the “HEAVEN AND HELL” tour. Why is it so amazing? First of all, the fact that it is a complete recording version of the regular live. “DARK KNIGHT” and “BRINGER OF EVIL” were also recorded by people involved, and the sound quality is hard to beat, but “DARK KNIGHT” was a live performance that was interrupted due to Tony Iommi’s sudden illness. On the other hand, at the Sydney performance, there were some omissions, such as the engineer at the venue turning off the recording button in some places. Surprisingly, the line source that contains the regular set list at the time of “HEAVEN AND HELL” without cuts is only this Hartford performance, and that alone has great “value”. Second, it is the best sound board sound source when Bill Ward was enrolled. The sound sources from when Bill was co-starring with Ronnie have been excavated one after another in recent years, but most of them (although there are many excellent ones) are audience recordings. “DRAGONS AND KINGS”, a line source from the same period, is also incompletely recorded, so the “significance” of being able to listen to plenty of the sound board when he was in the building is unwavering. The third reason is the nature of the recording, which is material that is intended to be listened to by an unspecified number of fans. The items that have been mentioned so far have been recorded for people to listen to at home, whether they were recorded by people involved or recorded by an audience. "Broadcast" was not the premise ("DARK KNIGHT" in Japan was also broadcast on the radio, but it was a different material). The original sound source, which was recorded for a music program to promote the album "HEAVEN AND HELL" and listened to even by general listeners who don't know SABBATH, has a universality that anyone can enjoy listening to. "Value", "significance" and "universality"... This recording that combines all of these is already a historical legacy not only for SABBATH fans but also for all rock fans. If you want to listen to a hard rock live show in 1980, this is the one you have to listen to first, just like WHITESNAKE's "Reading Festival" of the same year. This time, we will use the “before radio broadcast” master discovered in 2007 again. The previous version also had a sound image that realistically conveyed the band's transition from '70s hard rock to '80s heavy metal, but this time we have refined that sound and improved the brightness and clarity of the sound. It's getting even better. In particular, Ronnie's performance is so clear that it is highlighted in front of the listener. The roaring vocals of the opening songs “War Pigs” and “Neon Knights” seem to bring to mind Ronnie’s fierce expression! Furthermore, the performances by Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill's "original members" are more powerful than ever. The separation of sounds has also improved, so each play is easier to grasp and distinguish, which is a great thing. “N.I.B.”, “Black Sabbath”, and “Sweet Leaf”, which were cut in official and radio broadcasts, have a persuasive power that exceeds Ozzy's era, but approach with the heaviness unique to the original performers. In these '70s SABBATH numbers, the scene where the original members' playing and Ronnie's new song interpretation collide is truly amazing! Of course, the numbers from “HEAVEN AND HELL” are the best. “Children Of The Sea”, “Heaven And Hell” and “Die Young” have been made official, but if you listen to them in a proper live flow, you will be more impressed. The medley development from “Heaven And Hell” to “Iron Man” and Iommi’s 10-minute solo time to “Die Young” is also a highlight of this work! What you can't miss is the bonus track at the end of the main story. "Children Of The Sea" was recorded on the B side of the single "NEON KNIGHTS" at the Hammersmith Odeon in London on May 8, 1980. It was also included in the deluxe edition of "HEAVEN AND HELL", but I was disappointed by the rough finish, which was just an official title. When the official is unreliable, the underground comes into play. An EP in excellent condition was borrowed from a veteran collector and carefully remastered. The sound quality is superior to that of the official version, and the sound quality has been successfully released on CD, with almost all the needle crackling and roughness eliminated! As mentioned earlier, this live source is one that cannot be avoided when listening to British hard rock live in 1980. I would like not only incomplete people who only know about the Deluxe Edition, but also enthusiasts who already own the previous releases, to approach it as if it were a completely new work.
