The "MASTER OF REALITY Tour" reached its peak with the initial trilogy, but was also a hidden gem of a sound source with no soundboards. This masterpiece live album has been reissued. It will be released on a top-of-the-line updated sound CD! This work features the "July 18, 1971 Toronto performance." It is a historic audience recording from an appearance at the legendary music festival "BEGGARS' BANQUET DANCE Festival." The "MASTER OF REALITY Tour" spanned 1971 and 1972, and is often confused with the "PARANOID Tour" and "VOL. 4 Tour" that preceded it. Let's start by looking at the position of this work from an overview of their activities at the time. 1971 “PARANOID Tour” ・January 7th-23rd: Europe #1 (11 shows) ←※NEWCASTLE 1971 ・January 31st: MYPONGA OPEN AIR appearance ・February 17th-April 2nd: North America #1 (40 shows) ←※ETERNAL VOID OF DOOM and others “MASTER OF REALITY Tour” ・July 1st-31st: North America #2 (29 shows) ←★COCO★ ・September 4th-7th: Europe #2 (3 shows) ・September 10th-October 28th: North America #3 (23 shows) ←※LONG BEACH ARENA 1971 1972 ・January 24th-February 24th: Europe #3 (22 shows) ・March 1st-April 2nd: North America #4 (31 shows) “VOL. 4 Tour” ・May 7th: Paris performance *July 7th - September 15th: North America #5 (26 shows) ← *DAYTON 1972 and others. This legendary recording, which served as a "SBD substitute" with its robust directness, is BLACK SABBATH from 1971/1972. This Toronto performance was the opening concert of the "MASTER OF REALITY Tour." It was the 11th performance of "North America #2," which was just before the album release. This show, more than anything else, has made history by leaving the best recording of the "MASTER OF REALITY Tour." Its greatest features are its intense directness and vivid detail. While other recordings, such as "LONG BEACH ARENA 1971" and "MASTER OF WINTERLAND," have been unearthed, both offer the dynamic sound of a hall, reminiscent of an audience. In contrast, the Toronto recording boasts an incredibly on-the-go core, approaching without any sense of distance, and a soundboard-like intimacy. Moreover, this work is the highest-quality update of this legendary recording. First, the source is the best available. While the 4th Generation Master has long been known, this work uses a young Generation (presumably the 2nd Generation, though this has not been confirmed) master unearthed in 2018. The clarity is dramatically improved. This isn't a reissue, though. It's an upgraded version with even more refined mastering. While the source is the same, the basic sound isn't "completely different!", but the noise processing is even more refined. Perhaps the most obvious difference is the guitar solo. While the previous album, "Zodiac 316," had a tingly noise just after 8 minutes into the second half, this album has been beautifully treated. This resurrected album is truly the "king of the MASTER OF REALITY Tour." We've been introducing our top picks from each 1970s tour as "Eight Greatest Audience Recordings," and this is one of them. So, this is a good opportunity to list the eight best recordings from each tour. Eight of the Greatest Audience Recordings of the '70s: 1st Era: DEFINITIVE LAUSANNE 1970; 2nd Era: ETERNAL VOID OF DOOM; 3rd Era: BEGGARS' BANQUET DANCE 1971 (this album); 4th Era: BRESCIA 1973; 5th Era: DEFINITIVE PROVIDENCE 1974; 6th Era: DEFINITIVE LONG BEACH 1975; 7th Era: COMPLETE FRESNO 1976; 8th Era: DEFINITIVE FRESNO 1978. These are the best audience recordings of each tour corresponding to the eight albums. While soundboards don't cover every tour, audience records allow you to trace every tour with a full live album. In other words, the above eight works are an essential collection for learning about Black Sabbath in the '70s. This album is the crowning masterpiece of the "MASTER OF REALITY Tour." A powerful live album, even down to the show itself. This album also qualifies as the "King of the MASTER OF REALITY Tour." It's long been talked about as a phenomenally high-energy performance, incredibly heavy yet incredibly sharp. The set is also exceptional. While there aren't many super rare songs, the album features a huge selection of ultra-popular songs. Despite being a live performance from around the time of the album's release, it's incredibly rich, like a nostalgic greatest hits tour. To better appreciate its intensity, let's summarize the full set: Black Sabbath, N.I.B., Black Sabbath, Wicked World; Paranoid, War Pigs, Iron Man, Paranoid, Fairies Wear Boots; Master of Reality, Sweet Leaf, Embryo, Children of the Grave... While full of classic tracks that are not at all uncommon, this complete set is extremely rare. The only live performance packed with so many killer songs in a single show was the Toronto performance. This legendary recording, with its performance, sound set, and everything else, is the "King of the MASTER OF REALITY Tour." This is its highest-ever update. This is a historic audience recording of the "July 18, 1971 Toronto Performance," a masterpiece of a tour without a soundboard and also part of the "MASTER OF REALITY" series of "8 Greatest Hits." This is a soundboard-like recording with an incredibly on-the-go core that approaches without any sense of distance, refining the best existing second-generation master. Both the performance and setlist are ultimate masterpieces, making this a masterpiece live album that serves as the soundboard for the "MASTER OF REALITY Tour."
