After the release of "CROSS PURPOSES", BLACK SABBATH toured South America in 1994 with original member Bill Ward on drums. This special release features a professional shot video of the first day of the tour in Sao Paulo, Brazil on August 27th, using a high-quality master unearthed overseas! The "CROSS PURPOSES" tour, with Bobby Rondinelli on drums, ended with a European tour in June 1994, but SABBATH then participated in the South American version of the "Monsters of Rock" tour, with KISS as the headliner. Bill Ward was appointed as the drummer at that time (with the intention of helping him return to the music scene), and they performed a total of four shows from August 27th to September 4th. In addition to the definitive sound source "ZOMBIE" released from this tour, a long professional shot video of the performance in Santiago, Chile on September 1st is also known. However, the most popular footage of the South American tour is the material from the first day, August 27th. As you can see at a glance, this video is based on material that is certainly superior to the material already known in Japan, and the sharpness of the contours and ease of viewing are superior to those already released. Since the material has already been edited for broadcast, the song order is significantly different from the actual live performance, and the mix with a large keyboard distribution in the opening song "Time Machine" is the same as the previous release. However, this unique sound image also creates the effect of close-up on a part of the band ensemble that cannot be heard normally, which is a great interest for enthusiasts (it is rare to see a material with Jeff Nichols so prominent in Sabbath's sound source and video). Geezer Butler's bass and Bill Ward's drums also stand out clearly, allowing you to fully enjoy the characteristics of the '94 South American tour. Bill also played at the original BLACK SABBATH reunion stage "Live Aid" in 1985 and at the Costa Mesa, California live in 1992, but both were with the original lineup including Ozzy Osbourne, and it is very rare to see a live performance with a regular set with Martin at the front. On this tour, the set mainly consisted of Ozzy era classics such as "Black Sabbath", "War Pigs", and "Paranoid", and songs from "HEAVEN AND HELL" such as "Children Of The Sea", but in this live performance, in addition to the aforementioned "Time Machine", he also tried songs with strong Vinny Appice and Cozy Powell colors such as "Headless Cross". In these songs, Bill's simple playing style prioritizes rhythm keeping, so Bill's simple playing may be a little disappointing, but the fact that Bill played these songs is a surprising take. Still, the encore medley of "Iron Man" and "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" unleashes a unique mood and groove that will have you saying, "Just as you'd expect from the original members!" At the end, as a bonus, interviews with Iommi, Martin, and Bill are also included. Bill talks about how he joined the '94 tour and his impressions of the live show, which are also interesting. The total recording time of about an hour feels a little short, but the composition that covers the core songs of the live show should leave you fully satisfied. We hope you will take this opportunity to enjoy the '94 South American tour, which is particularly rare in Sabbath history!
