"LIVE FROM LONG ISLAND" was a Billy Joel classic live performance back in the VHS and LD days. However, it has been out of print for some time now, and has yet to be released on DVD or Blu-ray. Previously, the Japanese broadcast version was combined with the LD version to create the "LIVE FROM LONG ISLAND JAPANESE SPECIAL EDITION." This time, however, we present the upgraded version, which suddenly aired in Germany late last year and caused quite a stir. The broadcast, processed for the digital age, offers a level of clarity that is incomparable to the VHS and LD versions of the time. It was truly surprising to see such an upgraded version suddenly released in 2024. The picture quality is so clear that I wish they would have released it officially, but unfortunately, it was only a digest version of less than 50 minutes. The outstanding picture quality is well worth watching. You'll be amazed to finally be able to watch the long-familiar "LIVE FROM LONG ISLAND" in such high-quality video. It's interesting that, since it's a digest version, the final song before the ending credits ends with "Big Shot." And, best of all, the improved image quality makes Billie look so young and dignified. Billie's dignified presence is particularly striking during the performance of "Pressure." The camera-focused stage action in "Big Shot"—the final backflip you'd expect, only to be met with a simple false landing—is truly nostalgic. And yet, the entire concert, including that performance, can be enjoyed with quality comparable to today's large-screen TVs. This surprising upgraded broadcast gives you peace of mind for the still-elusive official release of "LIVE FROM LONG ISLAND."
