After the end of Double Trio Crimson's 1996 world tour, the unconventional unit "Bruford Levin Upper Extremities" was formed. The familiar Crimson rhythm section of Tony Levin and Bill Bruford was joined by guitarist David Torn and trumpeter Chris Botti. This is a must-have high-quality DVD title for fans, featuring a live performance at Toad's Place in New Haven on April 13, 1998, recorded in excellent one-camera audience shot video footage for about 1 hour and 38 minutes. The footage is taken from the center of the venue, but the image quality is excellent and the sound is very good. Since it is a handy camera, there is a slight shake in the screen, but I think you will be convinced at a glance, and the overall quality is excellent. The close-up scenes of each person are also very beautiful and attractive, and you can enjoy the play of the four "picturesque" people with outstanding presence from ideal angles and textures. Audience shot footage of this kind of band is hard to watch for a long time, and I don't often watch it repeatedly, but with this, I'm sure I can enjoy it over and over again! After all, Tony & Bruford's play, which can only be enjoyed by watching the performance scene, is a must-see for fans, more enjoyable than the official CD title "BLUE Nights". In a sense, it may be said to be the best one that allows you to enjoy the charm of "Bruford Levin Upper Extremities" directly more than the official one. The best stage full of high-quality and attractive improvisations by four people with outstanding skills is something that any music fan can enjoy, even if they don't know the original song at all. The attractive sound of Bill's live drums, which is entangled with Tony's play, which fascinates the viewer with a variety of techniques such as standard bass, electric upright bass, funk fingers, and familiar stick work, is the best, and you can enjoy a great musical satisfaction no matter which part you watch. In various places, Bill's unique off-beat and indescribable syncopated play is casually shown in a natural form, allowing fans to enjoy a very rich time. In the MC of the first bill, he jokes with the audience, "We're not going to do Yes's Close To The Edge," but the casual format of the temporary unit, away from commercialism, seems to allow each player's personality and ability to be displayed in the best possible way. Chris Botti, the only very handsome member, naturally plays an abstract trumpet play that matches the band's mood. David Torn cuts in with a strong, edgy guitar sound. This is the best video title for "Bruford Levin Upper Extremities," which showed us a great stage in the late 90s. Live at Toad's Place, New Haven, CT. USA 13th April 1998 AMAZING-SHOT!!!
