This month, an upper version of the Beatles' 1963 TV live show "IT'S THE BEATLES" appeared on the Internet, and became a hot topic among enthusiasts. This time, it is a CD release using the original unremastered sound source. Even though it is an upper version, the original was a recording tape from 55 years ago. Lord Reith did not try to suppress it excessively, but still applied equalization to adjust the overall balance. Even so, it is true that there was a somewhat piercing texture when listening to the cheers, and this was probably the result and limit of the equalization sense. Therefore, for this release, we deliberately avoided adding unnecessary gimmicks and tried to record while taking advantage of the vintage feel of the upper version that was originally available. The clarity of the TV broadcast recorded 55 years ago by connecting a jack from a recorder is still excellent. And yet, it is full of a vintage feel in a good sense. In fact, it is very wonderful even without the equalization of the Lord Reith version. The warm taste, which makes you want to call it an antique, was altered by equalization in his version. You will be surprised by the clear drum sound that is unique to unprocessed songs, starting from the intro of "From Me to You". However, it is a vintage recording that has been sleeping for 55 years. There is noise in some parts, and in particular, "Roll Over Beethoven" and "Money (That's What I Want)" have quite a harsh level of noise. In addition, there are many low-level noises that were not completely removed (left alone?) in the Lord Reith version, and we have focused on removing them for this release. Please refer to the track list for these adjustments, but this work has resulted in this release being released on CD as the best version that removes noise while still taking advantage of the warmth of the original sound. This makes it much easier to listen to. Not only does it boast the best condition compared to the two types of jack connection recordings that have been unearthed in the 21st century, but it also has great value as a soundboard recording of a full stage that was held in front of the enthusiasm of local Liverpool fan club members. Although it is regrettable that Ringo's vocal microphone recording error in "Boys" was a mistake made by BBC staff who were unfamiliar with rock concerts, it is still a 1963 live soundboard that can be enjoyed by not only enthusiasts but also beginners. The DVD also includes the existing footage of "IT'S THE BEATLES". "IT'S THE BEATLES" was a TV special produced by BBC in 1963 to reflect the popularity of the Beatles that exploded in the UK. However, this broadcast only has footage of the final three songs of the stage. In the 1990s, the existing footage was circulated, but all of the songs performed in the first half were extremely fragmented, and several songs in the middle were cut out in a fragmented state. Initially, it was speculated among enthusiasts that it was a "stingy" cut that is unique to leaked footage, but in the 21st century, the truth of this fragmented state became clear. In fact, this footage was cut up by BBC employees as training material for videotape editing, which was just beginning to be used by TV stations at the time. As proof of this, the first half of the performance shows only the audience. In other words, this was the result of an editing exercise in which they cut out shots of The Beatles from the performance scenes and connected only shots of the audience. Everyone can't help but think that they would cut up the footage of The Beatles, but in 1963 The Beatles were not a "historic rock band" but merely a "popular pop group". Videotapes of such a band would have been perfect for editing practice once the broadcast had ended. In the first place, the BBC made a big mistake by destroying all of the precious television footage of rock bands from the 1960s to the 1970s. For example, the program "COLOR ME POP" in which The Nice appeared was originally recorded in color video, but was destroyed and no longer exists at the BBC. Instead, the version that was sent overseas as a black-and-white copy and broadcast barely survived, and so it can still be seen today. Nevertheless, the performance scene of the last three songs of "IT'S THE BEATLES", which can barely be seen, is very worth seeing. Even though it was a stage in front of enthusiastic Beatlemania, it is still cute compared to the enthusiasm in America the following year. It is really valuable to see the four of them playing very calmly and carefully. Due to the editing, the audience is shown a lot, but when you see the girls humming in places, you can see that they were listening to the Beatles' performance. The first version recorded on this DVD is a version restored by Lord Reith based on the best quality version without time code. This is the one he released at the same time as our Washington Coliseum footage, which became a huge bestseller. Although it is only three songs, "Twist and Shout", which was cut up, has been restored to its full size and can be watched without any discomfort. For this release, the news film footage reporting the recording of "IT'S THE BEATLES" has been patched in as a unique edit for this album, and further restoration has been performed. In particular, the scene where the stage curtain falls after the instrumental version of the finale "From Me To You" is the ending that was not included in the TV version, of course. Next is the original of the fragmented footage that has been circulating for many years. This was the result of being sacrificed as an editing training by BBC employees. With the existing footage in this state, even though it is only audio. It makes you realize how valuable this upper version sound source, which allows you to hear the entire show in high quality, is. The second half of the DVD contains standard live footage from the same period. The Royal Variety Performance, where John's jewel-jangling remark became legendary, is from the fan release "THE CATHODE RAY TUBE COLLECTION VOL.2". This is the best edited version that mixes the best quality "BEATLES ANTHOLOGY" part with the full-length broadcast version that was leaked after the release of the document. Therefore, only "She Loves You" is recorded from the leaked version, and the time code on the original image has been deleted (i.e., it is a blurred version). And the last songs recorded are two songs used in the programs "Late Scene Extra" and "SCENE AT 6:30" aired by Granada TV, which is famous for its camera-shaped drum set. Unlike the actual performance, the twin acoustic formation is interesting, as if they were defiantly lip-syncing the recording, but the camera work is very excellent and worth watching. These images were also used in the official "1+", and although the sharp finish that was remastered with the latest technology is not bad, this one looks more natural and has a more original image quality. "I Want To Hold Your Hand" is the same version released by Lord Reith as "IT'S THE BEATLES". The beginning and end of the song are longer than in "1+", and the frame interpolation technology allows you to see the Beatles moving more smoothly than in the conventional source at 50 frames per second. The currently archived version is a 25 frame per second video that was put onto film using a technology called Kineco (similar to the BBC situation, broadcast videotape was expensive at the time, so the video from the tape was burned onto film and left, and the master tape was overwritten and reused after broadcast), so you can feel the attention to detail in restoring it to be closer to the videotape version that was aired at the time. In this way, the DVD is a recommended disc that allows you to enjoy the youthfulness of the Beatles in 1963 and their neat performance from a visual perspective! ・ It's The Beatles CD: Unprocessed Version Original source before equalization. The sound source used in the gift is a remastered version that has been noise-removed by Lord Reith, so this one sounds more natural.・It's The Beatles: Restored Edition DVD Based on the timecode-free PAL master version that Lord Reith (the same person who uploaded the upgraded footage from Washington DC) uploaded at the end of last year, which restored cuts from the songs, I Want To Hold Your Hand and the ending are inserted from different angles for newsreels. Also includes the traditional unedited master with timecode. ・Royal Variety Performance Bonus footage. From "The Cathode Ray Tube Collection Vol.2" edited by Hobnail. Some audio noise was removed. ・Late Scene Extra / Scene At 6.30 Bonus footage. I Want To Hold Your Hand is the complete version edited by Lord Reith, and This Boy is from "The Cathode Ray Tube Collection Vol.2" edited by Hobnail.
