Part 2 of the Beatles' recording session compilation begins with the only surviving session tape from the recording of "WITH THE BEATLES". First of all, on this day, they recorded a message for their Australian fans before the performance. This was recorded at EMI Studios and was included on the Coltturkey master, but just as the interview was cut from "LAST LACQUERS" because it was just a talk unrelated to music, the recording of this message was also omitted. For Japanese people, this is no doubt easier to listen to. It is frustrating that we cannot get a glimpse of the sessions for classic songs such as "All My Loving" because the session tapes no longer exist (which is why the hi-hat intro version of the song was added as a bonus for Vol.1), but even just the recording scenes of the two songs left on the only remaining session tapes are very enjoyable. In particular, "Hold Me Tight" is covered, including the clapping and double-track decoration work based on the adopted take, making it a very valuable document of the process from when a song was completed for the album. After the release of "With the Beatles," the hit single "I Want to Hold Your Hand" made The Beatles known all over the world, and even though the session tapes for the German version are still available, they are only available in fragments, and there is no leak of the audio, so these short recordings continue. Therefore, although there are many tracks, all of them are less than one minute long. Therefore, this time, we have included a rare mix released only in Australia (with the vocals on the right, reminiscent of early stereo), to tighten up the content. A similar rare unreleased CD mix has been added to the German version. The second half of the first disc moves to the '64 session, starting with take 1 of "Can't Buy Me Love," which is nostalgic for the "ULTRA RARE TRAX" generation. The Coltturkey master recording included an interview recording for the US market, but this was also cut. As for "Can't Buy...", take 4 has been replaced with a single track version of Paul's vocals, which were taken from the 5.1ch remix of the movie A Hard Day's Night. The original guitar solo from Take 4, which was erased by overdubbing, can be heard more clearly than in the finished version. In past releases, the session part of Take 4 was often connected to the finished version, and even the Coltturkey master recording was treated the same way, but this edit has made it possible to record it as a more faithful document of the session. This is a point that was surprisingly overlooked. The end of this disc is where the session soundtrack of "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT" is concentrated, and the instrumental "Train Song" is the song that was played in the familiar scene in the movie, "Uncle, get me the ball!" There is some debate as to whether this is a recording by the Beatles, but it was recorded on an EMI reel tape that appeared on eBay a few years ago, with the words "The Beatles" and "Hard Days Night" written on it and a label for Twickenham Studios on the back. This resulted in the release of a full-length version of the recording before it was burned onto film, and Coltturkey included it as a bonus. "I'm In Love," also included as a bonus, is a maniac recording that was recorded when Billy J. Kramer was recording a song that John had provided, and John was heard giving advice in the studio. It was originally a track that saw the light of day on his best album. The second disc begins with a session for the title song of the movie. This is also a valuable and enjoyable experience of the process of completing a famous song, but the session recording of this song ends at the end of the interlude on take 9, before the piano interlude is overdubbed. Therefore, all of the past items were connected to the finished version to make a pseudo-complete version, but both Purple Chick and BACK TO BASICS had rough connections and were undeniably strange. Even Coltturkey used the latter version, but this time it is replaced with the latest edited version made from the 5.1ch remix sound source of the movie A Hard Day's Night, which is much smoother than those. Between the "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT" sessions, the sound source for the TV special "AROUND THE BEATLES" is also included. The editing around here is inherited from that of BACK TO BASICS. And the second half of the second disc is from the "BEATLES FOR SALE" session. This was the last time that the Beatles sang and played throughout the entire album and recorded it with "Se-no", so all of the session sound sources that have been leaked or released to date are performances that are worth listening to. In particular, "I'm A Loser" was originally a faster and brighter performance, but it captures how the mood changes to a more subdued atmosphere with each take. "What You're Doing" take 11 has been replaced with an upgraded sound source. The muffled sound quality peculiar to John Barrett's sound source has been significantly improved. As I have written so far, the Coltturkey version on which this release is based takes the best parts of the fan releases produced by the two labels in the past, and incorporates or replaces the latest best sound sources to create a new culmination. In addition, by adding rare release mixes from the finished versions of each song, each song is compiled in a content that can be documented efficiently and easily from the first take to the release stage. The Purple Chick and BACK TO BASICS sets are a bit too niche to get into, but if you still want to get a glimpse into the process of how The Beatles completed their songs, this is a session collection that's easy to listen to and is recommended as an introduction for beginner fans!
