US Capitol edited original album "Magical Mystery Tour" "Magical Mystery Tour" was released in the US on November 27, 1967 as a US Capitol original compilation album. In the UK, it was released on December 8, 1967 as a 2-disc EP set containing 6 songs as the soundtrack to the TV movie of the same name. Although Capitol had been releasing albums with their own edits, the previous album "Sgt. Pepper's" was the first album with the same format in the UK and the US, with no changes to the content, but the six UK EP songs were recorded on side A of the record, and the B side contained five singles from the same period that were not included on the album: "Strawberry Fields Forever," "Penny Lane," "Hello Goodbye," "Baby You're a Rich Man," and "All You Need is Love." As a result, this Capitol version became popular in the UK as an import record, and was belatedly released as a UK album in 1976. When it was released on CD in 1987, it was positioned as an original album, and has since been promoted to an official original album. The TV movie "Magical Mystery Tour" itself was broadcast as a Christmas special on the BBC in the UK, but due to the fact that it was broadcast in black and white at the time and was not well received, it was not broadcast on TV in the US, and was not shown in theaters, but only in a few places such as university film screenings. Although the film itself was not well received, the song made an appearance on the UK hit charts in Music Week magazine, an unusual feat for an EP, and reached second place behind the single "Hello, Goodbye," which was number one at the time. Even in the US, it was number one on the Billboard album chart for six consecutive weeks and number eight on the 1967 annual rankings, even without TV broadcasting. It also reached number one on Cashbox for eight consecutive weeks, and sold more than five million copies in the US alone. CD = Original Capitol Masters (Stereo & Mono) Includes analog master sound sources that faithfully reproduce each stereo/mono track from the original album edited by Capitol in the US. The sound source was directly transferred from the original 1960s version, and was recorded in the latest remaster that removed the noise unique to vinyl records and restored the powerful and dynamic sound unique to the US version at that time. In the UK, the album was released as a 2-disc EP in stereo and mono, but in the US, it was released as an album, so the master was sent from the UK in advance and edited in the US, which resulted in the difference in mix between the UK and the US. The stereo and mono mixes of "I Am the Walrus" and "Strawberry Fields Forever" are different from those in the UK, and singles such as "Penny Lane," "Baby You're a Rich Man," and "All You Need is Love" were recorded in pseudo-stereo because real stereo sources were not available at the time. When the album was later released on CD, all of these sources were unified into remastered sources, but this release contains all 22 tracks from the album in stereo and mono, faithfully reproducing the texture unique to analog, as in the past, with analog master sources different from the current digital remasters. DVD = Video Album/Audio Album The video album contains all 11 songs from the album "Magical Mystery Tour" in original video editing. The editing is different from the currently distributed video work "Magical Mystery Tour," and is the original editing including outtakes and unreleased scenes. The second half of the singles are also edited differently from the usual promotional videos, and the audio is also a unique video album edited in 2024 using the latest AI-mixed "New Stereo Remix" sound source. In addition, the audio album includes all 11 songs from the album "Magical Mystery Tour" in three different sound sources.
