2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the release of Magical Mystery Tour, and as the 10th installment of the series of anniversary editions, the TV Archives (2DVDs) includes everything from the precious original mono film to the BBC documentary, all with Japanese subtitles. This is the 50th anniversary special edition of the familiar series, the TV Archives/Japanese Collection of Magical Mystery Tour. Disc 1 contains the main feature in the old video version that was first remastered in Japan and first released in Japan in 1998. This version, released with Japanese subtitles, is the first stereo remix by George Martin and the first restored version restored by Ron Furmanek, and has a different sound mix from the current official version, and the subtitles are edited in a way that only the original version could have, including mistranslations. The second half of the DVD also includes the documentary special "BBC Arena: Magical Mystery Tour Revisited," which was broadcast on the BBC at the time and was released in a new version in 2012. This documentary includes interviews with Paul and Ringo looking back on the time, as well as rare outtake scenes, and is a valuable TV version with Japanese subtitles that was aired only once at the time. Disc 2 also includes the 8mm video version from the original mono film, which was first released in Japan with subtitles in the 1970s. This video has been out of print and is difficult to obtain, and although the quality is inferior to later videos, it is recorded with a soundtrack of the original mono sound source, making it a valuable version now, and the unique Japanese subtitles unique to this era are also a must-see. The second half of the DVD also includes the Japanese subtitled TV version of the documentary "Magical Mystery Tour Memories," which was aired on TV overseas and also made into a VHS video. This is also a special video collection that includes rare footage, mainly focusing on the recollections of the performers at the time, and all of this, including this one, is recorded with Japanese subtitles.
