We have decided to release a rare broadcast version of the Beatles' Budokan footage on June 30th. This time it's the version that was broadcast on TV in 1980. This was because Paul's performance in Japan at the beginning of the same year was canceled due to his arrest, and the June 30th performance was aired again in the special program to serve as ``comfort for the fans''. . Therefore, what is played at the beginning is the scene where Paul is being dragged away while being mangled (and Paul is trying his best to be affectionate to hide his upset). At the time, the scene was a literal nightmare, and when the narration said, ``The connection between the Beatles and Japan has been severed forever,'' the shock was incomparable to the uproar that caused Paul's performance to be canceled this year. . Moreover, John was still alive and well at this point, and the shock at this time was all the more shocking because it was an era when fans had a faint expectation that “The Beatles might reunite someday.” Such a vivid document further shows the Budokan, and a ratty venue also appears. This scene overlaps with the cancellation of the visit to Japan in May. Next on screen is the master video reel of the Beatles Budokan performance. The close-up is breathtaking. How is this master currently stored? I can't help but be stirred up by that kind of imagination. The Beatles history that begins after that is based on the 1978 broadcast version, but it has been further expanded and new narration has been added. The content traces the history of the Beatles even more clearly than the 1978 edition, with more time being devoted to early live footage and activities. However, between these images, the sad fans at the Budokan in 1980, or at least the people who gathered for the signature campaign, are shown again, and it is a truly vivid document. After all, I am reminded that canceling the performance in Japan at that time was an "arrest". Then, in October of the previous year, Paul was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the ``World's Most Successful Artist''. It is also unique to 1980 that you can see how Paul, who was active with Wings at the time, was active. And even after the June 30th Budokan live footage has been aired, what appears is Paul's image as he leaves Japan after being ordered to leave the country. As a result, this event led to the disbandment of Wings. This is not just a broadcast of the Beatles Budokan video, but also the tragedy of John's unexpected death at the end of the year, and it is a valuable video that can be called a document that captures the beginning of 1980, which was literally a year of trials for Beatles fans. The content of the program is completely different from the 1978 edition, which had a spectacular atmosphere of ``one-time rebroadcast'', and the content is serious, but the nostalgic commercials in between are sure to soothe you.
