The Beatles in 1966 were surrounded by a heavy atmosphere. As the large-scale US tour entered its third year, the performers felt a sense of inertia and boredom, and were losing their desire to perform on stage. During the tour, they only traveled back and forth between hotels and venues, and it was an environment in which they could not expect any musical improvement. In later history, the Beatles stopped all touring activities in this year and concentrated on studio work. However, at the time, no one, including their manager Epstein, could have imagined that the band members were thinking of such things, and the audience must have been under the illusion that the Beatles would continue to perform concerts forever. In fact, the Beatles' live performance in 1966 was lackluster, and three members of the anthology acknowledged that. However, in Germany in June, he gave an exceptional performance. The Beatles finished their UK tour in December of the previous year and then went on a long vacation. They only appeared on stage once at the NME concert on May 1st, but their first tour was in Germany at the end of June. The Beatles' live history will come to an end with a summer US tour, with concerts in Germany, Japan, and the Philippines. The first stop of that short 1966 tour and number of live performances was Germany. Approximately one week before the special 1966 Japan tour for us Japanese, the Beatles will begin their first tour of the year in three cities: Munich, Essen, and Hamburg. Surprisingly, this will be his first time on stage in Germany since 1962. According to one passage, it is said that it was difficult for the members of the Beatles to go there because they had many old friends who knew how bad they were before their debut, but in any case, Germany is a memorable place that trained the band in its early days. . Many old friends also attended the venue, and it is reported that they went out into the night after the concert. Perhaps because of this sense of freedom, the Beatles' performance at the German concert was even more passionate than their other performances in 1966, and the band decided to quit touring after two months. is unthinkable. This work is the title that is the culmination of that German performance. The dates for the German performances are as follows. June 24, 1966 Circus-Krone-Bau, Munich, Germany June 25, 1966 Grugahalle, Essen, Germany June 26, 1966 Ernst Merck Halle, Hamburg, Germany DVD Disc 1 shows footage of the first day in Munich. As this was their first performance in Germany since their debut, you can see that a lot of footage has been left behind. From the moment they landed at the airport, to the excitement of the fans who greeted them, to the convoy of vehicles, TV reporters spoke and excitedly reported on the event. What surprised me was a female fan who was visiting Germany from America to "chase" him. In an era when transportation was not as cheap and accessible as it is now, you can see how much they loved the Beatles. The main part of the concert is a clear video that has never been seen before, and it is deeply moving to see how far the footage of the Munich performance, which has been repeatedly released since the video era of poor quality, has reached this point. What is interesting is that it includes complete footage of the police who were in charge of security at the time. The footage was probably taken for reference purposes in case a similar case occurred later, but it is a clear color video of the area around the venue, the fans, and the Beatles' actual stage. What's more, the colors are not faded, but rather vivid and vivid, as if they had been photographed recently. Although there are many videos of the Beatles, it is probably no coincidence that the ones with such clear color images were from the Japan and Germany performances, which were technologically advanced countries. DVD disc 2 contains footage from Munich to Essen. Many people may be surprised to see the color video of Munich that opens the film. The sound is synchronized with the performance part from the color footage of the German police that was included on DVD Disc 1. What is interesting is that, although not all the songs, you can watch the black and white video in color. By colorizing what was previously black and white footage, you get a completely different impression than before. You can watch the Munich performance again, including footage from other shots, different angles, and other angles. Unfortunately, there isn't that much footage of Essen, but it's a very rewarding disc, including a documentary made in Germany. DVD disc 3 is Hamburg. This is also the place where they were based before their debut, so there is a lot of footage from their arrival by train to the press conference. Speaking of Germany, the images of Munich are too famous, but the images of the Beatles at the Hamburg performance are also wonderful. I was surprised to find that clear footage of him being greeted by an enthusiastic audience from the moment he took the stage, including close-ups, was preserved. It is also rare that John can be seen standing on stage wearing sunglasses in the video. The recording that follows the performance scene is also footage taken by the local Hamburg police for security purposes. Along with the heartwarming scenery of the local area, the venue and fans are carefully recorded, and the enthusiasm of the time is very clearly conveyed.
