Following the release of "Paris Left Breathless" (3CD+2DVD) which recorded the concert in Paris in 1965, a new album was released which recorded the 1964 French tour the previous year. The Beatles gained worldwide fame after the news that "I Want To Hold Your Hand" reached number one in the US during this Paris concert, and the subsequent success of their first appearance in the US. After that, large-scale concerts became the main focus due to the capacity of the venues, but until this French tour, they were only well-known in the UK and a small area of Europe. This album records the 1964 French tour just before they went out into the world. This French tour was a hard tour, with two shows a day every night, from January 15th to February 4th, 1964, except for two days on January 21st and January 28th. The schedule was like an extension of their time as local stars before they became popular. The set list for this French tour has not been fully revealed, and the audio and video footage is limited, so I hope that the recordings in this work will help to elucidate this historic page. According to one theory, the French tour this year had different sets every day, and the set list was different even during the day and night. This may have been a rehearsal before the band's first American landing. I hope that those who have this work in hand will deepen their research and find inspiration to uncover the mystery. I think that this 1964 French tour is a tour that is well worth it. The French tour took place in Versailles only on the first day, and all the rest were held at the Olympia Theater in Paris. Since Versailles was the first day, it was said that recordings were made and filming was done for interviews, but the audio and video footage have hardly been seen until now. Of course, this work not only contains the first appearance of these fragments, but also includes color footage of the Olympia Theater in Paris, first appearance footage, and other footage, making it a comprehensive tour. Let's start with the audio. The opening is the performance in Versailles on January 15, 1964. Of course, it is the first appearance sound source. It is the sound source of TORINI LOPEZ and SILVIE VARTAN who appeared as the opening act of the Beatles. "Shock of Love" sung by Sylvie Vartan is a familiar song that was released as a single in Japan. And the Beatles recorded "From Me To You" only one song from this first day in Versailles. At the ending, you can clearly hear him strumming the guitar and saying "Thank You". It is rare to put such an MC in the form that overlaps with the song. Next is the sound source of the Paris Olympia performance on January 16. This is the first time that a sound source excavated in the last 10 years or so has been recorded in a form that is correct in pitch and closer to the master. Paul is wonderful in "I Saw Her Standing There", and it is a rare passionate performance with a voice that is hoarse and interjects and changes the singing. Both "Twist And Shout" and "Long Tall Sally" have "From Me To You" played at the end, but this is played while the stage curtain is lowered at the end of the show, and these two songs are thought to be the endings of the two performances, one in the day and one in the night. The fact that the ending songs are different in this way suggests that various set lists were tried out during this year's French tour. Since "Long Tall Sally" is a song that starts with vocals, the intro has a guitar count like that done in "AROUND THE BEATLES". Next is the recording of the Paris Olympia performance on January 19th. This includes one song by TORINI LOPEZ as an opening act. This is a different song from the Versailles performance. And the Beatles have five songs plus the ending "From Me To You". This is familiar from the analog era, but it has been a long time since the CD era, and it is amazing that the quality has improved so much since then. And then there is the recording of the Paris Olympia on January 22nd. These are fragments of "This Boy" playing in the background while the narrator speaks, "Long Tall Sally" and "Twist And Shout" recorded halfway through, but all of them are first-time sound sources. As such, there have been many titles that recorded the 1964 Paris performance, but the dates were vague and the songs were all mixed up. Of course, it was inevitable because not only the exact set list but even the songs played were unknown, but this work carefully examined these sound sources and recorded them with the most accurate date and song order possible at present. The second half of the disc contains interviews. Next is the video DVD. As always, the groundbreaking feature of the M Claudel label's Live Chronicle series is its great ability to unearth footage. I'm sure there are many people who look forward to first-time footage and high-quality footage every time. This time, the footage of the 1964 French tour does not disappoint. First, the footage of the Versailles performance on January 15th. The curtain rises at the opening and the concert begins. George is standing at the front, so you can tell that the opening song for that day was "Roll Over Beethoven". John and Paul sing "I Saw Her Standing There" side by side, the three stand at the microphone in "This Boy", and the surprising footage this time is that it was recorded with a camera so close that it seems like it was shot on stage. It includes shots that are so close that you wonder where they were really shot, such as a close-up of Paul singing "From Me To You", a close-up of Paul's bass guitar, Ringo playing the drums with a smile, and John's back and right next to the stage. And the biggest feature is that the video and audio are perfectly synchronized. Of course, the sound source is used in the places where there is no sound source, but since the performance is almost the same, it feels natural to watch, and above all, it gives the feeling that a silent film has been brought to life. All the footage from Paris Olympia is from the show on January 16th. The opening curtain opens and starts with George's "Roll Over Beethoven," but it's in color. Vivid color footage of the 1964 French concert! It's amazing that something like this exists. The image is of the Beatles in suits from the monochrome era. It's like a moving photograph. Well, considering that even color photographs of the stage from this era are rare, this is a very valuable piece of footage. In addition, the performance scenes from the monochrome footage have been edited to recreate the stage of the Paris Olympia concert as much as possible. There is also a scene at the end where Paul jumps back to his post, and a scene where Paul desperately speaks French MC. Also, a scene of John imitating a disabled person to excite the audience was introduced in "Anthology" from the Melbourne concert, but it is surprising that a similar scene is included here in Paris, and it is surprising that John has been performing such bad jokes for a long time. The audio is also perfectly synchronized with the video, so you can enjoy the concert footage without any sense of incongruity. In addition to the performance scenes, the footage includes the Beatles walking around the streets of Paris, as well as the inside and outside of the venue, and a huge amount of footage taken at the time, each reel included. As the footage was shot as news footage at the time, it is very interesting because it is shot from a journalistic perspective, showing not only the concert itself, but also the Beatles' private life, the fans' behavior, and the Beatles' popularity in France. In addition, the tour documentary footage follows the French tour in chronological order, showing the Beatles being seen off by their fans from Heathrow Airport in London, arriving at a French airport, heading to the hotel, and the Beatles' behavior until the end of the tour and returning to London. This is the latest in M. Claudel's Live Chronicle series, which culminates the 1964 French tour. A perfect set including never-before-seen audio and video. First-time footage of Versailles and color footage of Paris. And with this quality. Be sure to collect this along with "PARIS LEFT BREATHLESS" (3CD+2DVD), which contains a recording of the 1965 Paris performance. The fact that the Beatles' first tour of France that year was so precisely recorded before they went out into the world shows that they were young is a very special one for them.
