As the anthology's tagline states, "You ain't heard everything yet!", you'll be surprised to find out there are still unreleased Beatles recordings. This collection features never-before-seen recordings, demos, alternate mixes, and other all-new material. The highlights are three highly anticipated tracks from 1963: "Love of the Loved," "Misery," and "What Goes On." Each is a never-before-heard recording. While the existence of "Love of the Loved" has long been known through circulating photos of the acetate label, it can now be heard for the first time. There are various theories about the year of recording. The song was performed by a band at the Decca audition on New Year's Day, 1962, and the Beatles owned the recording. It's questionable why they would bother cutting acetates for a demo. Furthermore, the song itself seems less complete than when it was recorded on Decca, suggesting it may have been recorded in 1961. However, Dick James' acetate label remains, suggesting that the album was likely recorded under Brian Epstein's production. This suggests that the album dates to early 1963, a time when the band was simply demoing original songs onto acetate discs. Therefore, the album is dated 1963. "Misery" is a demo recorded at the Cavern Club. John sings over a rhythm track, with the other band members occasionally adding chorus. The vocals on the demo of "Lost Love" are by John, not Ringo. John's version of "Lost Love" is also surprising, as the song structure is also different. While the title phrase is shared, the rest of the melody is completely different from the released version, making it sound like a completely different song. "Where on earth are we going?" "Top of the top, even better!" Before they became famous, The Beatles would often motivate themselves with the phrase "Toppermost of the Poppermost," a play on the radio show "Top of the Pops." This album features rare studio tracks spanning the Beatles' career from that period through to 1969, including never-before-seen recordings. "Love of the Loved" and "Misery" are included in noiseless, clean versions, and the original acetate recordings are included as bonus tracks. All other tracks are new recordings. Consists of all new material, including never-before-seen recordings. Includes acetate recordings of the much-talked-about "Love Of The Loved," "Misery," and "What Goes On." 1963 01.
